In need of a staycation but don’t want to leave your furry friend behind? Lucky for you we’ve compiled a list of eight of the best pet-friendly hotels and holiday homes here in Perth.

So pack your suitcase, grab some treats (for both dog and human), and book yourself and your four-legged companion in to escape the chaos of the busy sidewalks.

Urban Coastal Home

If you’re planning on staying at this gorgeous coastal unit tucked away on Ewen Street, be sure to bring a big appetite—it’s only a 100-metre walk up the road from Skol (arguably, Perth’s coolest opening of the year), and Drift Kitchen, and Brooklyn Lounge is just around the corner. This two-bedroom beauty is fitted out with beachy vibes, shiny wooden floorboards and an enclosed courtyard, and it can fit up to five humans plus their furry friends. Book your stay over a weekend and take your dog for a 20-minute walk down to the Scarborough Sunset Markets on Saturday night, where you can feast on gourmet food truck goodies while your pooch snacks on homemade dog treats or chills out in the dedicated doggo lounge. When Sunday morning rolls around, grab the dog lead and stroll on over to Drift’s courtyard where you can sit down for coffee and a delicious bagel or brekky burger.

Converted Warehouse

South Fremantle

This roomy two-storey converted warehouse is located right in the heart of South Freo, and it opens out onto a paved courtyard making it the perfect place to stay with your four-legged friends. With two bedrooms upstairs and massive floor-to-wall windows next to the staircase, you’ll have an unobstructed view of your pets at all times, no matter whether they’re lounging around inside or playing in the courtyard. Open up those stunning windows and the smell of Freo’s hottest bread will waft up from Wild Bakery, which is just a 50-metre walk down the road. Like this accommodation could get any better, it’s only 350 metres away from South Fremantle dog beach. We reckon you should take your pooch for a sunset walk along the sand, then grab a hotdog from Run Amuk on your way back to base.

Suburban Cottage

For charming cottage vibes right on the doorstep of Subiaco’s food strip, book yourself in for a stay at this beautiful holiday home. With a gated garden terrace in the front and a spacious courtyard out the back, your four-legged friends will be spoilt for choice. If that’s not enough and you really need to stretch your legs, the entrance to Kings Park is roughly 700 metres down the road—or you could walk the opposite way and do a lap around the lake at Shenton Park, which is just over two kilometres away.

Citadines St Georges Terrace

City-dwellers who can’t go anywhere without their dogs will want to book a stay at Citadines St Georges Terrace. These fully-serviced apartments are located right in Perth’s CBD, so you can rest assured there are plenty of food options for the humans, with numerous cafes, restaurants and bars within short walking distance. For the pets? The dog-friendly rooms at Citadines include a comfy pet bed, food and water bowls plus a welcome pack to help your furry friend feel right at home—all you need to do is BYO pet food. With Elizabeth Quay being just a six minute walk down the road, you can set off on a scenic foodie adventure complete with delicious gourmet eats from V Burger, Aurore, Gusto and Amberjacks

Pier 21 Apartment Hotel

If you want to enjoy unbeatable views of the Swan River on your next staycay, you’re going to want to head to the luxurious Pier 21 Apartment Hotel on the sandy banks of John Street in North Fremantle. Take your furry friend for a walk through the sprawling tropical gardens or a stroll along the paths of the riverbank, then retreat to the comfort of your elegant, fully-serviced apartment or suite. Before booking in at Pier 21, just be sure to shoot them an email to let them know you’ll be bringing your pet with you.

Perth Cafe Strip

Mount Lawley

This cute and cosy house in Mount Lawley is just a stone’s throw away from the main food strip of Beaufort Street, which is packed with pet-friendly cafes and restaurants. Since the front yard isn’t completely fenced off, pets are more than welcome to stay inside with the rest of the family—but with so many great food options nearby, it’s unlikely you will be staying inside for long. Get Chunky’s Mount Lawley store is 170 metres up the road, with other Beaufort Street faves Mr Oro, Baked 180, Mary Street Bakery and Huxtaburger also being located dangerously close by. Why not pick up some bites then walk on down to Hyde Park and spend the day lazing in the sun?

Acorn Cottage

Located 45 minutes east of Perth, Acorn Cottage in Mundaring is the perfect place for a quick getaway without actually driving too far from home, complete with plenty of space for your pets to run free. This gorgeous home is decked out with French country and vintage inspired decor—think curvy white furniture, roses and delicate chandeliers—plus a clawfoot bathtub, an elegant kitchen and a wood burner in the living area. You’ll feel like you’ve taken a trip to the British countryside.

Station House

Mount Helena

Escape to the beautifully landscaped gardens and shaded verandahs of Station House in Mount Helena—a charming country home boasting three bedrooms, a huge private garden, three separate seating areas and a swimming pool. When those hunger pangs hit and you’re looking for your next meal, there’s no need to leave your pets behind. Head off on a quick 100-metre stroll through the forest and sit down for a pub feed at the Mount Helena Tavern, which is completely dog-friendly.
