Here’s where you can score the best parmigiana in Perth (and a few plain chicken schnitties, because they were too good not to mention).
It’s a big call but The Vic could very possibly serve up Perth’s cheapest parmi. At $9.99 on Thursday nights (not to mention $3.50 pints) you’ll basically be saving money by going out. If you like to keep it simple, they also serve regular chicken schnitzel.
Elmar’s in the Valley
Not exactly a parmi, but absolutely worth a mention—the ‘Schweineschnitzel’ is an authentic crumbed pork schnitzel with fries or potato salad and a side of mushroom sauce. This mean feed would be enough to leave even Augustus Gloop satisfied. Wash it down with some German beer, brewed on the premises. Make this your stomach-lining pit stop if you’re hitting up wineries in the Swan Valley. Sehr gut.
You might even consider leaving the footy early, just so you can dig into the parmi next door at Australia’s biggest pub. If you can’t go past a good dinner deal head down on Tuesday night for $25 parmi and pint. Winning.
South Perth and Nedlands
Mamma mia, this is a serious parmigiana. Make Nonna proud and dig into this South Perth institution’s cottoletta or pollo parmigiana (that’s beef or chicken for the uninitiated). You’re almost guaranteed to spill sauce all over yourself, but hey, it’s a sign you enjoyed your meal.
The Guildford Hotel
It’s no surprise one of Perth’s prettiest pubs also dishes up a delicious chicken schnitzel. It comes with a caprese tomato salad, smoked mozza, basil and aged balsamic. Just wear stretchy pants, because it’s a huge serving, but oh so worth it.
South Beach Hotel
It’s parmi-geddon at the South Beach Hotel with the Outback Parmigiana. It comes with mozzarella, bacon, mushroom, onion, hickory smoked barbeque sauce and a side salad. Go all out. You know you want to.
Easy cheesy. Five Bar serves up their parmi with a twist—it comes with a side of linguine pasta. Order some craft beer and you’ll be in carb-heaven.
Yes, your favourite Italian joint also dishes up a mean schnitzel. It’s served with hand cut chips, salad and homemade mayonnaise—salivating yet? Just convince your friends to share so you don’t have to go without the pizza and pasta. Pappagallo is BYO so don’t forget a bottle of vino.
The Windsor Hotel
Kick-start your week and head into the Windsor between Monday and Wednesday for their pub meal deal. The chicken parmi comes with all those delicious trimmings of tomato sauce, ham, cheese and chips plus a pint for $25. This pub has a killer space—so find a spot in the beer garden or bar to while away a few hours.
The Sovereign Arms
No pub menu is complete without a good schnitty, and at the Sovereign Arms it comes in the mouth-watery form of a Pork Schnitzel Burger. With bacon, lettuce, blue cheese and green peppercorn mayo on a black brioche bun and with a side of fries you might not have any room left for a pint (…maybe). They also have Parmi night to get you through hump day—served with a side of chips and salad for $19.
The Oxford Hotel
Another classic pub, and another perfect parmi. It comes with all the good stuff—just be prepared to swat your friends' forks away when they try to steal a bite. On Sundays, a schnitzel will set you back just $15.
Zeus Street Greek
Your two fave drunk meals have combined into one awesome feed—schnitzel gyros. Zeus Street Greek has two varieties for you to devour. If you want to eat your gyros from bed, it’s available on Uber Eats.
Parmi is the ultimate crowd pleaser and even vegetarians can get stuck in at the Rosemount. The eggplant parmi is smothered in cheese and napolitana sauce. For the carnivores there’s also chicken. Win-win.
The Left Bank
This is the ultimate cure for Mondayitis. A parmi, a pint, and that sweet Swan River view for $17. The Left Bank keeps it classic with leg ham, Napolitana sauce and Mozzarella. Oh yeah.
