Get Rid Of Wrinkles With This Non-Invasive New Heat-Based Skin Treatment

By

If you're on the hunt for a non-invasive way to get rid of fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage—ahem, who isn’t—there’s a new treatment in town and she is a goodie.

Available from the skin legends at Ocean Cosmetics, Tixel is an innovative procedure that uses heat to boost collagen production in a single treatment with pretty much zero downtime.

As a regular visitor to Ocean Cosmetics, I know how incredible their treatments are so I was excited to give it a go and see what all the fuss is about.

So, What Is Tixel?

In a nutshell, Tixel uses heat to boost collagen production to give the skin a youthful, glowy complexion. In more science-y terms, a handheld device emits tiny thermal pixels onto the surface of the skin, creating micro-channels. The heat from the device stimulates collagen production and tightens the skin.

How Does The Treatment Go Down?

Before getting started, my therapist assessed my skin to see if tixel was the right choice for me. My skin was then thoroughly cleansed and she applied a numbing cream to minimise any discomfort. Once prepped, we were ready to roll. Tixel doesn’t puncture the skin so there is zero bleeding or charring, leading to quicker healing. The actual treatment only took about 30 minutes. Even with the numbing cream, it was a bit warm and tingly so don’t be a hero and avoid that step. After the treatment was complete, a soothing cream was applied to my skin to reduce any redness or swelling and I was sent on my way after promising to avoid sun exposure and clogging/active skincare for 48 hours.

The Verdict

For a few hours after the treatment, my face was red, hot and a little swollen but it had calmed down by the next day and was just a bit sandpapery for a few days after that. One week post-Tixel treatment, I started to see a difference in my skin. It looked smoother, firmer and plumper. Here’s the kicker though: while a lot of treatments help plump the skin, Tixel really works to minimise those pesky crows feet and I noticed a huge difference almost immediately.

For best results, a series of three Tixel treatments spaced a month apart will be your best bet.  I’m counting down the days til my next treatment.
