Sunny Coast's Best Day Drinking Spots

We don’t want to burst your fun-lovin’ bubble, but winter is on its way and with it comes shorter afternoons and less enthusiasm for into-the-night sessions followed by brain-blowing hangovers.

If your definition of day drinking is wearing a pair of pluggers, having a drink or three, getting a bit burnt, then topping it all off with a full eight hours of shut-eye, then you’ve come to the right place.

Behold, the best places on the Sunny Coast to get yo’ drank on during the daylight.

High Tide

If a brekky burger dripping in cheese, fried bacon, and smoky sauce washed down by a beer sounds like your idea of day drinking heaven, then it’s time to make High Tide your boo. Mudjimba’s answer to the rest of the Coast’s most hip and happening watering holes (think Good Bar/Drift Bar vibes with Mudjimba breezes), the cocktails are served with fresh flowers and floating mini animal figurines. And did we mention the all-day breakfast? You’ll be nippin’ your hangover in the bud before it even begins.

Where: 1/21-23 Mudjimba Esplanade, Mudjimda

Noosa Boathouse

Surely any floating structure perched on Noosa River with a semi-rooftop bar is built for the very cause of day drinking. The Sunset Bar’s panoramic views and cocktail list is a killer combo for polishing off those last few dollars after a big day of guzzling, and make this open space one of the best bars on the Sunshine Coast. Open from 4.30pm, the Boathouse puts the classy back in being drunk by 6pm. Kinda.

Where: 194 Gympie Terrace, Noosaville

Kings Beach Tavern

When you’re cruising through Clown Town hanging for a chicken parmy and a cider or seven, head for the east and park up in front of Kings Beach Tavern. Enjoy prime ocean views, live tunes, and enough Keno for the avid punter to blow his/her rent, it’s a good choice to get comfortably day drunk without the judgement of crowds and young children.

Where: 43 Burgess Street, Kings Beach

The Green Room

If you’ve been wearing your wallet out at Eumundi Markets and you’re getting behind-the-knee sweat from fighting the crowds, split to The Green Room for a sip and a sit. On the top floor of the historical Imperial Hotel, this eclectic little bar is the pick for craft beers on tap and boutique whites.

Where: 80 Memorial Drive, Eumundi

Your Place Espresso & Bar

Hellllooo cocktail jugs! If Sunday is your drinkin’ day of choice, look no further than Your Place, where the heaving crowds stick out like a sore thumb on Brisbane Road (in a good way). Renowned for their crafty cocktails and sporting acoustic sounds from 4pm every Sunday, get there early to nab an outdoor bar table and a $10 pizza.

Where: 103/45 Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba

Black Bunny Kitchen

Getting on it at Black Bunny is much like getting on it at your mate’s place, except no-one has to pick up the bottles. Think mismatched couches, tonnes of sunlight and some hanging planter pots for good measure; it’s comfy drinking at its finest. THE pick of the bunch if an ocean dip at Alex and a schooner of Stone and Wood, is your idea of a day well spent.

Where: 180 Alexandra Parade, Alexandra Headland

Blackwater Trading Co.

If you’re a Moffat Beach local, you’ll already know Blackwater Trading Co. is the place to be for a coldie on tap, at any time. This wine bar/café/mini-brewery uses all the good local stuff (like Colin James ice-cream…mmmm) and sells itself as a craft beer bistro—meaning it’ll be the answer to all your boutique beer prayers. Perfect for the beery good day drinkers among us. #sorrynotsorry

Where: 12 Seaview Terrace, Moffat Beach

La Canteena

Ocean Street’s new sweet spot, La Canteena, is the alleyway delight that’ll manage to quench your thirst and satisfy your tastebuds at the same time. We’ve found sipping on fresh watermelon margaritas, is all the better when you’re washin’ down delish Mexican street food at one of the best bars on the Sunshine Coast.

Where: 19 Ocean Street, Maroochydore

Just a stumble away from Your Place, Taps is the ideal location to kick on at, after a long day of drinking at the best bars in Mooloolaba. This one-of-a-kind beer bar offers drinkers the choice of pouring their own beer from taps on the wall. Genius or dangerous, we haven’t made up our minds just yet.

Where: Corner The Esplanade and Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba
