As the weather starts to heat up (honestly, we’ll take any improvement) we’ve turned our attention to two things—all of the food and allllll of the wine. This doesn’t sound too different from other weeks but rest assured that this week is going to be served with an extra side of deliciousness.
We’ve rounded up a few of our fave foodie events, from aperitivo sessions on a rooftop, to a #healthgoals book launch and rounded it out with one huge Israeli feast. Calendars at the ready team—it’s time to lock these Sydney events in.

Better Brain Food At No.1 Bent Street
Eating is undoubtedly one of our favourite things ever (obviously) and we don’t really discriminate—we love it all. But what if you could eat stuff that will help to ward off dementia and cognitive decline. Now you can people. Author and dietician Ngaire Robbins will be speaking about her latest book, Better Brain Food at No.1 Bent Street this week and it’s all about teaching you how to keep that brain of yours on point, through simple diet and nutrition. The event will also have food (duh) and dranks (obligatory) courtesy of No. 1 Bent Street, so you can tuck in and learn some new skills at the same time. Book your spot here.

Sunset Aperitivo Specials
Try to name a better duo than sunsets and cocktails—we dare you. Well, every single night in August you’ll be sipping on an aperitivo cocktail as you watch the sun go down from Zephyr rooftop bar at the Hyatt Regency. The cocktail list has all your faves, like the old faithful Aperol spritz, as well as house made Vermouth on tap, and creative twists on the classics—order the Zephyr Strawberry Spritz, with fresh pressed strawbs, sherry, Vermouth and thyme. And because sharing is caring, they’ve also designed a few share cocktails that come in their own fishbowl decanter with a tap on each side (practical AND Insta-worthy).

Wednesday 9 August
Israeli Feast At SHUK
Our mates at SHUK have just done us all a huge favour—they’ve brought a huge Israeli feast to Bondi. SHUK always throw a good party and this one is no different, so you’ll be stuffed silly with small bites like the labne balls with za’atar and olive oil (translation: spiced yoghurt goodness), and the homemade Israeli-style pickles, served with fluffy house made pita and challah bread. Anyone who has been to one of their feasts in the past will know to order double bread (it’s that good). There’ll also be share plates galore, like the fish and mussels poached in a traditional chraime sauce and served with with capsicum, chickpeas, coriander and couscous. If you weren’t already drooling, then you’re about to be. Our top pick from the dessert menu involves goats cheese, creamy ricotta, ground pistachio, rose jelly and yoghurt kataifi. It’s all good here.

‘Four Hands’ Chef Collaboration Series
Chippendale’s Four Hands Collaboration Series is back again and you better believe that it’s bringing some of the world’s best international chefs to their super luxe Private Kitchen on Kensington Street. Singapore’s freshly Michelin-awarded chef, LG Han, will be leading Wednesday’s dinner alongside Lino Saura, who you might know from Olio. The chefs will merge traditional Italian and modern Singaporean cuisine to create a six-course dinner with some mighty fine flavour combos. You’ll kick off with the chargrilled abalone tart with fresh oyster sauce, then move onto the local mud crab with chilli ice cream (yep) and trust us, it’s all uphill from there.

Winemakers Shout @Gurdy's
Did someone say free wine?! Oh hell yeah we did. Get ready for #winowednesdays at Gurdy’s Newtown, because this is the place to head if you want to learn all about the benefits of keg wine. And you’ll get to drink it at the same time. Winemaker Tom O’Donnell from Riot Wine Co will be in the house to tell you how wine kegs reduce the carbon footprint and produce zero waste (yep, zero). The best part? He’ll even shout you a glass—we’ll drink to that.
