Guests at this place describe it as “better than a hotel” and once you step inside you’ll see why. This pad comes with access to a shared pool, which is not something we expected for the cheap price of around $110 a night, and less than 30 minutes’ drive from central Brisbane.
We love the fact that this accommodation has its own private access, and the fully-furnished Airbnb is spotless and lovingly styled with an en-suite to boot. Pad on out to the shared deck and you’ll see the pool looks pretty darn magical thanks to the palm trees and fairy lights on the pergola nearby. Out here you’ll find a fire pit, barbecue and a table and chairs for an alfresco dinner. All you need to do is sit back, relax and soak in the resort vibes.
New Farm Pip's Place
This 1910s Queenslander-style studio is a quaint stay for you and one other. You’re close to Woolies here, so there’ll be no trouble getting supplies to cook up a feed in your own well-equipped kitchen. You can sit at the wooden-topped breakfast bar and enjoy it with a glass of wine if you fancy. If you’re here for a longer stay, you might find the nearby fitness centre and swimming pool handy, plus Bunya Forest walking and biking track is close for adventuring too.
Wooloowin Modern North-Side Apartment
This modern unit is situated perfectly between the Brisbane airport and city, on a quiet, leafy residential area. The wide suburban streets offer you the convenience of guaranteed parking, and the bliss of a family-friendly neighbourhood.
The crisp white interiors make the living spaces feel clean and inviting, which is essential to the home-away-from-home vibe, and it’s only around $200 a night. The cherry on top at this cheap accommodation option is the natural-lit outdoor patio, fully-sheltered and equipped with a barbeque. What more could you want on holiday?
Kelvin Grove Contemporary Guesthouse
This stylish inner-city guest house sits on the ground floor, beneath a 1930s style Queenslander cottage. Despite being under another residence, this studio is fitted with high ceilings, quality fittings and a personal entrance so you can enjoy your privacy (without the price tag).
For roughly $200 a night, you and your other half can call this place home. It's got a kitchen and small living space, plus a dedicated workspace so the pair of you can get the laptops out and WFH if boring stuff calls. On hols? Explore the surrounding cafés and restaurants in the Kelvin Grove Urban Village by foot.
Holland Park West Comfy Guest House
If you need a quiet, cosy abode close to Brisbane CBD and Southbank Parklands, then this cheap accommodation option is well worth a squiz. The express bus will have you in town in around 15 minutes which is pretty handy, and the freeway gives you easy access to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast too.
Your private guesthouse has snazzy styling, with a bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette. It’s located at the rear of the property and can be accessed from a gate without the need to enter the house. Grab a drink and head out to your own private garden (there’s a general store just 800 metres away if you need to stock up on snacks too). All this for not much over $100 a night. We’re in!

Fortitude Valley Lylo Brisbane
This place was Australia's first pod hotel, and it’s even more stylish than you’d expect. With several locations across New Zealand, Lylo is no stranger to the world of chic but affordable accommodation, but Brisbane was their first Aussie outpost. Taking over what used to be Lime Hotel on Constance Street, the hotel has both sleep pods in shared rooms and private rooms available.
If you’re on a shoestring, pods start from around $90, or you can book out all four to six in a room for a crew. Don’t worry that there’s no room to spread out, because the cheap Brisbane hotel also features communal living areas, a rooftop hangout space, co-working rooms and of course, close proximity to the bustling hub of the Valley.
Brisbane City Selina
Ok first up, if you need to be right amongst the action in the city, Selina is for you. Ultra-conveniently nestled in King George Square, Selina comes in at an around $250 a night for a standard room with a private bathroom. You have heaps of other options like shared hostel-vibe dormitories or suites with an extra-large double bed too.
