The healthy, vegan, raw-food diet sweeping the Gold Coast has been a wonderful and eye-opening experience, especially in the breakfast department. Who knew breakfast could still be awesome without lumps of melting butter, crispy deep-fried hash browns, and suspicious mini sausages?
But while our waistlines and cholesterol levels are definitely thanking this craze, sometimes you just need to order a breakfast where your diet is disregarded and your daily calorie intake is satisfied in one sitting.
So, call on this selection of the best breakfasts on the Gold Coast for when you’re ready to have a total blowout.
Eggs Benedict on a Croissant
Burleigh Social
Pioneers of the eggs benny served on a croissant (genius combo guys!), Burleigh Social are here to put some stress on your belt. You might like to think eggs benedict are not bad for you, but hollandaise sauce and croissants are both made almost entirely of butter, sorry to break it to you. Though this dish is totally worth a few extra hours at the gym, promise.

Alfred’s Burrito
Alfred’s Diner
Why are breakfast burritos not more of a thing?! Alfred’s Diner pretty much hold the monopoly on these bad boys at present, and it’s a risk that’s paid off. The perfect breakfast combination of egg, bacon, tomato relish, diced tomatoes, aioli, spinach, and cheese definitely makes for a tasty brekkie but not necessarily one that’s good for the hips. What’s best? You can hold a burrito in one hand, which leaves the other hand free for… another burrito! Or a coffee, whatever.

Pecan and Maple Butter Pancakes
Blackboard Varsity Lakes
Dishing up some best breakfasts on the Gold Coast, treat yo’ self with Blackboard’s pecan and maple butter pancakes topped with caramelised pecans. These guys whip cream to make the butter and add in maple syrup and caramelised pecans to create a rich and indulgent topping—and lots of it. Add in more butter for a smooth, fluffy pancake and you’ve got the ultimate blowout brekkie.

The Breakfast Buffet
QT Hotel’s Bazaar
We’ve told you about Bazaar’s buffet breakfast before and its massive range of every breakfast food imaginable without sacrificing quality for quantity. But the beauty of a breakfast buffet, as we’ve no doubt you’re aware, is that you can eat as much as you want! Stuff yourself silly with eggs cooked to your liking, bacon galore, cheese and antipasto platters, pastries—even darling mini parfaits. But don’t worry, getting kicked out of a breakfast buffet is definitely something to be proud of. Bring stretchy pants and prepare for a food baby!

Breakfast Burger
Koi Dining
Koi’s mega breakfast burger is piled high with bacon, mushroom, hash brown, egg, coleslaw, roasted capsicum, and tomato chutney served on a brioche burger bun—this is one of those dishes where you really start clutching at straws to make yourself feel better. So you’ve got protein covered with the bacon and egg, and the hash brown is technically potato so, therefore it’s mostly protein and vegetables, right? In that case, you’d better add extra bacon.

Baked Eggs
Providore Marina Mirage
Hiding among a swath of healthy options on Providore Marina Mirage’s menu is a Metropolist fave, consisting of three baked eggs, three types of cheese, roasted Roma tomatoes, and garlic focaccia. Let’s just repeat that: perfectly oven-cooked eggs; garlic focaccia (because, carbs yo!); plus cheddar, brie, AND mozzarella cheese making this is the dish of your dreams.
