5 Awesome Things To Do In Melbourne This Week

By Amber De Luca-Tao - 24 Jul 2017

With all this rain, we now have a genuine reason to be housebound for the next month (or two). But hear us out: we know where to get discounted fancy shmancy pasta, free burgers and other good stuff. Once you're done with our list for this week, you're gonna get that umbrella and be out and about with bells on.

As always, here are five awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

Monday 24 July

Burn City Smokers Burger Giveaway

The Grand Hyatt is getting fired up this week. In collab with the kings of meat that are the Burn City Smokers, you’re invited to get around their giveaway and score one of 200 free brisket burgers (!!) These things are officially ridiculous—one of our frontrunners for Burger Of The Year. Let's face it, your Monday could use a little Southern American BBQ goodness. And your bank account could probably do with one less food transaction.

Where: Level 2, Grand Hyatt Melbourne, CBD
When: 12 – 2pm

Tuesday 25 July

Fatto Spaghettini Day

It’s that time of the month again. You know, the time when Fatto Bar & Cantina decide to be the best eating venue in the world and drop the price of their ridiculously fancy Spaghettini with Spanner Crab. Just in case you weren’t aware, their signature dish is usually $28 and for one day only it'll cost you just a tenner. In saying that, we know you can't put a price on carbs, especially not Fatto’s handmade spaghetti, Fraser Island spanner crab, chilli, parsley and a dash of lemon. Last time this happened they sold out quick smart, so lock that lunch in pronto.

Where: Fatto Bar & Cantina, 100 St Kilda Road, 3004
When: 12pm till sold out

Thursday 27 July

Dry July Degustation

We can always count on Serotonin Eatery to make us feel good… and not just with their delicious meals. This week everyone’s favourite vegan haven is supporting the Dry July cause by hosting their very own degustation in its honour. The degustation includes a nourishing three-course dinner with kombucha cocktails and hot drinks to round off the evening. The real highlight of the night? They’ll be donating 10% of the proceeds to Australians living with cancer.

Where: Serotonin Eatery, 52 Madden Grove, Burnley 3121
When: 6.00 – 8.30pm

Friday 28 July

Open House Social

Ten years down the track, Open House Melbourne has become one of the most anticipated cultural highlights on our city's calendar. And why wouldn't it? You get to wander through prestigious buildings that are locked up every other day. This Friday you're invited to help celebrate the event's 10-year anniversary, with a Friday night shindig at the newly reopened Temperance Hall. You'll even be treated to a performance by the iconic Phillip Adams BalletLab.

Where: The Temperance Hall 199 Napier Street South Melbourne, 3205
When: 7.00 – 8.00pm
For more info, click here.

Wizard Fest

When your mates asked you what you got up to on Friday night, you shouldn’t disappoint them. That’s why you should head to Wizard Fest and kickstart your weekend in a magical way. Calling all closet wizards and witches, it’s your time to shine. There’s gonna be a reward for the best dressed on the night, as well as a fortune teller, face painter and cartoonist. So grab your best broomstick and cape. You can skip on the wand though – there’s gonna be a (legit) wandseller at the venue, so you can pick yourself up a new piece of gear. This is gonna be one epic night of witchcraft not to miss.

Where: Colonial Hotel, Corner of King and Lonsdale Streets, CBD 3000
When: 8pm till late
For more info, click here.

Still got more space on your social calendar? Bosozoku Burger Bar and Sake Den is officially open for business.
