5 Awesome Things To Do In Melbourne This Week

By Steff Tan - 02 Oct 2017

In case you missed it, it’s actually been hot over the past week, which means leaving your umbrella at home is a genuine option now. With the final remains of winter floating away in the lovely pollinated air, it’s time to say goodbye to our friends at the Winter Night Market and make new ones with a free hug (you'll see what we mean below).

So if you’re wondering how life will go on now that the footy season's over, these five awesome things to do in Melbourne might just help.

Tuesday 3 October

Eureka 89 and Harper & Blohm are teaming up for an exclusive cheese masterclass with Jamie Hall from London’s Neal’s Yard Dairy. If your fantasy is a waiter grating never-ending cheese over your plate of more cheese, then get yourself a ticket to this one. You’ll get to sample some of the best of British Isles’ farmhouse cheeses, while learning just how the delectable dairy product is formed. But it doesn’t end there, coz there’ll also be a range of cheese-complementing beverages to enjoy. Cheese, wine, the view from Eureka Tower—yep we’re sold.

Where: Eureka 89, Level 89, Eureka Tower

After breaking records left, right, and centre, the Winter Night Market is coming to a spectacular end after its five-week extension, and you can bet your buck they’ll be going out with a bang. All your ultimate food faves will be on show: Pickett’s Soft-Shell Crab Burger from Pickett’s Deli, vegan pancakes from Butterlake Pancakes, Homemade Churro Bowls from Churro Kitchen, and Lobster Rolls from George the Fishmonger. Kids can also enjoy the night at the Fluro Circus where they can get their faces painted while being surrounded by magicians, stilt-walkers, jugglers, and giant bubble blowers.

Get your groove on when Flow After Dark returns to Melbourne for another night of silently boogieing it out. After selling out nationally, Flow Athletic have decided to throw another night full of fluro lights and probably the most comfortable headphones you’ll ever wear. You’ll start the night off with Vinyasa Yoga (the super flexible and core strength one) and then the real fun begins with Sydney D.J James Mack delivering the bangers. It’s 90 minutes of silence...at the disco.

Back for its second cuddly event, the good people at Awaken Venus and Currency of Love want to spread more love with a dose of free hugs.
