5 Awesome Things To Do In Melbourne This Week

By Greta Waters - 13 Nov 2017

Melbourne, you’ve let November rock round too quickly. It looks like you need a strong drink and lavish meal to calm those “OH S#!T IT’S NEARLY CHRISTMAS” nerves. Luckily, we know a guy…

Here’s our list of five awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

All Week

Goose Island is flying to Melbourne for Migration Week and they want to give your beer-loving heart a hug (and a pint). This iconic Chicago brewery is coming down under for the very first time, and they're keen to meet Melbournians that share the same adoration for a mid-week cold one. With a range of (free and ticketed) events – Thanksgiving Dinner, impressive collabs and a Street Festival – there’s something for every shape and form of beer fan. There are limited spots, and many dedicated beer devotees, so we suggest booking ASAP.

South Melbourne cool kids, The Crux & Co, are teaming up with the Support Breast Cancer Network Australia for a one-night-only Dine Pink initiative. Head chef, Ryo Northfield, blends the traditional Japanese flavours of his heritage with the fiery tastes of a modern five-course degustation menu (with wines to match, of course!). Tickets are $80 bucks, with 10 percent of proceeds going to charity. Grab your tickets here.

You know the drill east-siders: local artisans, an array of mouth-watering food trucks and some hip-shakin' tunes. Listers, it’s here, Eastland Shopping Centre is holding a night market every Thursday until Christmas. But we know you’ll be there every week after buying, using and exchanging presents – maybe it would be easier if you just moved in?

You’ve got it wrong, people, this year it’s lights, Cadbury and Guy Sebastian. To kick us Melbournians into action, there's gonna be a night of Christmas carols, chocolate electrifying light displays this week. Hop on board Cadbury’s virtual reality sleigh and Rudolph will whisk you away on a tour of the Eastern seaboard’s most beloved landmarks. Guy and Jules Sebastian will be jingle bell rocking at 8:15pm. Damn, Cadbury chocolate and Christmas spirit – it just rolls off the tongue.

Melbourne Music Week (MMW) is a weeklong house party between Melbourne musicians, abstract venues and interactive experiences. MMW offers a bunch of pulsating events – whether you’re thinking of comparing notes with Grandma on the birth of Melbourne punk or have decided to invest in the Victorian music scene at the Melbourne Music Market – there's truly something for all ages and wallet sizes. Special mention to the music legends behind Miscellanea, you’ll find us breaking it down in the Council Chambers then hitting the Portico Balcony for a dirty dance party (don’t miss out on this unique takeover at Melbourne Town Hall, these tickets will go fast!)
