Summer is a’comin friends, and if these 30-something degree days are any indication of what’s to come, Melbourne, we're in for a season of scorchers. If you’re a heat wave hater, don't stress, we've got a few ice-cool events to get you through the working week. 

Lock and load, guys. Here’s five awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

Tuesday 21 November


Adventure addicts at Bogong Equipment are joining forces with The Astor for the Reel Rock Film Tour. What does this mean for us feet-on-the-ground kinda folk? A one-night-only session of rock climbing-related flicks, plus some pretty sweet giveaways. Tickets are only $25 (you score a $5 buck discount if you book online), so forget the whole safety-first thing and get around Melbourne’s rock climbing community!

Wednesday 22 November


If you can dodge a wrench, we’ve got an exciting hump-day activity for you. Melbourne’s Dodgeball League in Parkville invites you and (six to ten) ball loving friends to dodge, duck, dip and dive your way into the night. With DOC Pizza two blocks away and your first game totally free, you’ve got nothing to lose!

As we come round the bend of yet another busy year, it’s time for some well-deserved TLC. The Beatt has curated the perfect day of zen for 12 lucky wellness warriors. The agenda consists of vinyasa flow and yin yoga classes, health and wellbeing talks, guided meditation, blissed out treatments, a wholesome lunch, yummy drinks and take-home treats. Boilermaker is having a week of all things Indian Pale Ale. IPA lovers, you can expect a range of food specials and infusions, tap takeovers and special releases. Highlights include the Heavily Hopped Launch Party (where a new IPA will be rotated through the throats of attendees every half hour until all 10 taps have felt the IPA love they deserve) and the IPA-A-THON Closing Party, with an exclusive and intimate tasting session.

Crab and Cava Fiesta

Usually, we stop at 5, but this week we just had to give a shout out to Bar Lourinhã who are throwing one hell of a crab party on Wednesday. We're talking eight courses of crab.  Crab croquetas, crab bocadillos, chilli-roasted crab and straight up crab with peas and truffle. Chef and co-owner Matt McConnell will be riffing the Spanish and Portuguese flavours, including some famed Catalonia fizz.
