5 Awesome Things To Do In Melbourne This Week

Well, Melbourne, the long weekend is over. And who knows how many years it’ll be till we see another one. In the meantime, there are heaps to keep you busy this week. We’ve got pop-up markets, secret garden parties and the AFLW season opener. Pack several different outfits, grab a strong umbrella and get out there.

Here are 5 awesome things to do this week in Melbourne.

Wednesday 31 January

STREAT Secret Garden Party

Melbourne’s social enterprise café STREAT are hosting a secret garden party this week at their historic Collingwood café (so not that secret). It’s all part of the Midsumma Festival. There’s gonna be a 4-course European feast, plus a welcome cocktail on arrival. Check the event page for the full menu.

Thursday 1 February

St Kilda Twilight Market

Such a good way to spend a Thursday night. You’ve got local artists and craftsmen slinging their wares, pop-up food stalls galore, and the distant screams of Lunar Park patrons. The St Kilda Twilight Market is on every Thursday throughout summer, so if you miss this one you can always catch it next week.

Cremorne Pop-Up Market

They’re breaking in the new Cubes3121 event space on Church St this week with an epic pop-up market. There’s gonna be local winemakers and foodie brands like boutique brands Rodan & Fields, Charlie Screen, Grace & James and Philippa’s Bakery. They’re also running a #checkinforcharity campaign—$5 will go to BeyondBlue for every person that checks in between 3pm-6pm.

Friday 2 February

Blender Artists Market

If you haven’t checked this one out yet, it’s on every Friday night throughout summer, taking over The District in Docklands with artists, designers, live music and a food truck park. Not a bad way to knock-off work.

AFLW Season Opener

It’s back, baby! The NAB AFLW season opener is kicking off this Friday with an epic match between Carlton and Collingwood. As usual, entry is 100% FREE, and there’ll be heaps of food trucks doing the rounds ta Ikon Park before the match. Grab some mates and head down for an epic night.
