Wowee, Listers! Do we have a week of activities for you, or what?! Exhibitions, talks and delicious dinners, it’s the perfect week of balance.
Here’s our top pick of events in Melbourne this week.
Shadow Thieves, a dinner series to be held on the first Monday of each month, kicks of this week. The launch dinner is a “Sicilian Shindig” being held by Bar Idda. This will be a feast of Sicilian food and wine where you’ll leave, in true Sicilian style, feeling like a glutton for punishment. The dinner will be held in the upstairs area of Ombra and bookings will be taken directly through the restaurant.
Ikebana International Exhibition
Catch the Ikebana International Exhibition in the rear gallery of the Melbourne Town Hall. Finishing up this Saturday, the exhibition will showcase Ikebana, which is an ancient form of Japanese lower arrangement. With the motto of ‘Friendship through flowers’ it’s something we’re pretty down for! And better yet, you can book yourself an Ikebana lesson! Full details here.
Wednesday the 9th
Morning Gloryville is back! Its sixth Melbourne event, ‘Spring Awakening’ will be held on Wednesday at 1000£ Bend in Melbourne’s CBD between 6:30am – 10am. The event will be choc-a-block with god vibes and fun times, including sets from local DJs, a ‘Jazzification Station’, a ‘Laughter clinic’ workshop, hooping and a tonne more. Grab tickets here.
Chasing the Scream
Bestselling author of Chasing the Scream, Johann Hari, is presenting a talk on the war on drugs and the cause of addiction. Hari will tell a different side of the story we all know about drugs and addiction, informed by the lives of those he encountered over his worldwide journey and investigations. Hari’s talk will be followed by an expert panel discussion with politicians, law enforcement and academics in the area. You can get a little preview by viewing Hari’s TED talk here. Tickets here.
