As we begin to wind down for the festive season, Melbourne has done quite the opposite. There’s a copperplate calligraphy course for greeting card lovers, Queen Victoria Summer Night Market, Lady Carolina at the Bureau Festival, last-minute Christmas shopping at CoBrew, and the upcoming Willo Markets.
Here are our top 5 picks of things to do this week in Melbourne.

Festive Copperplate Calligraphy at Work-Shop Melbourne
If you’ve ever wanted to master the art of calligraphy, this one’s for you! This Tuesday, Work-Shop Melbourne is holding a three-hour Copperplate Calligraphy workshop that will see you progress from black ink designs to the eye-catching silver and gold ink finished pieces. Did someone say personalised Christmas cards? The workshop runs from 6-9pm - tickets are $75 and wine and nibbles are provided.
Wednesday 9th December
Queen Vic Summer Night Markets
This Wednesday, the Queen Vic Night Markets continue their food domination as more than 150 street food traders pack into the famous market space. The stalls will be open from 5-10pm, so why not grab a pizza from 400 Gradi, accompany it with a Pimms, all while enjoying Ganga Giri’s funky dance beats? The Summer Night Markets run all the way until 30 March, and are a proven antidote to the ‘hump day’ blues.
Friday 11th December
Celebrate Christmas at CoBrew
Are you feeling the extreme anxiety that comes hand in hand with Christmas gift shopping? Never fear, the Christmas at CoBrew pop-up market is here. A market solely designated for the weary December shoppers, you can hand-make gifts for a personal touch, peruse the market stalls, or just sit back and enjoy a craft beer by 3 Ravens Brewery. Running from 5-9pm this Friday, there is ample time for your shopping needs to be met, but just in case you’re early the bar opens at 4pm.
Sunday 13th December
Willo Markets in Brighton
Willo Markets is a newbie to the ever-growing market scene, and this Sunday from 9am til 4pm they will be spreading the Bayside cheer. Dedicated to the promotion of small businesses, Willo is not your average market: They also provide many interactive features for market-goers. Our recommendations are to visit the photo booth and to decorate your limbs with henna.
