Are you feeling the end of year slump kicking in? Well, Melbourne has some awesome experiences to keep you entertained and energised this week! A Pork and Pinot Night at South Society, self-explanatory Makin’ Bacon workshops, a Wizard of Oz screening at QV, funky beats at NGV Friday Nights, and the Collins234 Boutique Christmas.
Here are our 5 awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.
Pork and Pinot Night at South Society
Mount Waverley’s go-to café, South Society, is the place to be this Tuesday night. Aptly named Pork and Pinot Night, the evening includes canapés on arrival, a five-course degustation and five matched wines from Victoria’s best vineyard’s, all at $80pp – a steal if you ask us. Arrive at 6.30pm for mind-blowing night celebrating Modern Australian cuisine. Bookings are essential.
Makin’ Bacon – Christmas Edition at Work-Shop Melbourne
I have two words for you: PERSONALISED BACON. That’s what you could walk away with at Work-Shop Melbourne’s Makin’ Bacon class this Wednesday. The session promises bacon sampling, curing techniques, and ultimate flavour combinations. The Work-Shop team just ask that you prep your taste buds for the delicious experience of personalising your very own pork. Running from 6.30-8pm, tickets are $50 per person and bookings are essential on the Work-Shop Melbourne website.
The Wizard of Oz at QV Outdoor Cinema
It’s time to bring out your ‘Ruby Slippers’ and waltz down Melbourne’s own Yellow Brick Road (a.k.a. Little Lonsdale Street) to the QV Outdoor Cinema. Watch as Dorothy is transported into the magical land of Oz, and attempts to find her way home, in the classic 1939 film. Grab a Grill’d burger and settle back on your deckchair for a night of childhood reminiscence. A standard ticket goes for $13, and bookings are essential - just visit the QV Cinema website.
Neon Indian at Friday Nights at NGV
This Friday we recommend setting yourself up with food, drinks, friends - and of course, epic tunes, at the NGV Garden. Kicking off at 6pm there will be both after-hours entry to the Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei exhibit, and DJ Sets in the garden. At 8.30pm Brooklyn-based Neon Indian take the stage to perform hits from their debut album, Psychic Chasms. Enjoy their dangerous electronic and funky beats as you enjoy the beautiful sight of the NGV at dusk. Booking is required and prices vary so visit the NGV website for more details.
Boutique Christmas party at Collins234
If you have dreamed of being serenely serenaded by a live jazz band whilst completing those last errands on your Christmas list, then you clearly have to attend the boutique Christmas party at Collins234 this Friday night. Starting at 5pm, there will be free canapés, wine, and awesome free gift-wrapping. It sounds like the ideal event for the lazy Christmas shopper in all of us! Check out the Collins 234 website for full details.
