5 Awesome Things To Do In Melbourne This Week

By Michaela Goldblatt - 16 May 2016

Aussie Wine Month and Good Beer Week are both in full swing, so this means there is a whole week of drinking and eating ahead! Melburnians, we're pretty sure you’ll be cool with that.

Check out our list of 5 awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

All Week

Stonnington Jazz Festival

The Stonnington Jazz festival returns for its 11th year to showcase the best of the Australian jazz scene. The line-up has something for everyone from full blown jazz fanatics to newcomers to the jazz world. Those into Mad Max should be keen on the festival’s unique event, JazzMax, at The Astor on Tuesday, where instrumental afrobeat band, The Shaolin Afronauts, will reinterpret the original score live alongside a screening of the film. Another exclusive event not to be missed is The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, featuring a range of live performers such as Vince Jones and Sampa The Great, paying tribute to the self-proclaimed ‘bluesologist’, Gil Scott-Heron.

Monday 16th

Arcade Lock-in Sessions at Forgotten Worlds

Great beer, burgers and gaming—now that's something to get excited about! Over 5 days, Forgotten Worlds will set all their arcade machines to free play, open their taps to a new Australian brewery each night, and have the boys from BurgerTime Burger flipping patties in the courtyard til late. Monday night is Six String Brewing Co's chance to takeover the taps. With only 50 tix per session and an abudance of beer and game lovers out there, we suggest you snap up your tickets ASAP.

Tuesday 17th

Cooking with craft beer masterclass at the Urban Kitchen

Join Daniel Wilson, chef of Melbourne’s former Smith St eatery Huxtable, and the ever-expanding burger joints Huxtaburger, as he walks you through cooking his favourite dishes, prepared and matched with Wolf of the Willow’s craft beer. You won’t be sheepishly watching—guys this one is hands on—instead you’ll be cooking and eating a three course fine dining meal. Since everyone knows that you need to become familiar with your star ingredient, a rull range of Wolf of the Willows beers is included as part of the experience. C’mon, grab your ticket here

Wednesday 18th

An Evening with Sam Adams at Longhorn Saloon

Longhorn Saloon have planned a Samuel Adams tap takeover and a four course feast for all you American food and beer lovers out there. Each course will be matched with a world-class Samuel Adams beer. Needless to say, one of these is the classic Massachusetts staple, Boston Lager. The other three are seasonal brews exclusively shipped over for Good Beer Week. Get your tickets here
