With outposts in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sydney, Melbourne is about to be the newest home of Soak Bathhouse. Tucked behind Chapel Street in South Yarra, this huge bathhouse will be located in the new $100m Alfasi Development, designed by award-winning Carr Architects.
Think large mineral pools, a dry cedarwood sauna, a steam room and a cold plunge, all nestled among leafy greenery — this is one opening that Melbourne definitely hasn’t seen before. On the agenda are private wellness experiences including infrared saunas, LED facials and full body massage for when you need that extra dosage of relaxation.

Sense Of Self

Take turns alternating between the large mineral bath tuned in at a perfect 39C, the Finnish sauna operating at a spicy 80C, and the steam room at a sweaty 46C. Once you're feeling cooked to perfection, take a dunk in the cold plunge pool.

There are two options on the bathhouse menu. ‘The Way Of The Light’ features exclusive use of their infrared sauna, followed by the mineral hot tub and cold pail shower. Or opt for the ‘Like The Finns Do’ option, which involves a traditional sauna and bath where you’re invited to bathe, sweat, pour, and repeat.

How does a post-meeting lunchtime soak sound? The Commons crew, known for their premium coworking spaces, are redefining work/life balance. These guys are set to open some truly next-level health and wellness hubs around the city. As well as the gym, fitness classes, and recovery sessions, is the thing you’re really here for: the bathhouse.
This super-luxe bathhouse will feature 37C and 39C magnesium infused baths, a 8C cold plunge, a traditional sauna, steam room, and heated stone benches. They’ll even be hosting candlelit sessions with sound baths and fire and ice rituals.
“After nine years of building and nurturing communities in the workspace, we are excited to integrate wellness, further enhancing the member experience and supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of our members,” Cliff Ho, co-founder and CEO says.
