The Beaufort Street Festival graces us with its presence once again this weekend and it is PACKED with food, fun and festival goodness. After some thorough research, we have decided on 10 things you should not miss at this weekends Beaufort Street Festival. Here goes...
Southbound Presents STREETBOUND
Returning for the third year in a row, Beaufort Street Festival and Southbound are producing the goods once again by hosting STREETBOUND. Grab a group of mates and head down to the rear car park of The Queens Hotel for some chilled out tunes, food, beer and cider. Local favs Pilerats, Death Disco DJ’s and Funk Club Inc will be playing at this sneaky side show before touring with the Southbound Festival in early 2016. Don’t miss this one peeps!
You’d be barking mad to miss this pooch show if you’re an avid doggy lover! This family fun event is held every year and we think it will be even more popular than ever. If last year consisted of categories such as cutest pooch and ugliest pups, then this year will defs wow the crowd. Register your little fluff ball on the day for a gold coin donation! Show starts at the City of Vincent Community Stage at 3pm.
Fresh Provisions have their own stall this year that will be producing the goods to all the lovely festival-goers. Specialising in every thing to do with coconuts, fruit and grilled haloumi, Freshies is our fav place to go for some summer treats; especially on a boiling hot day.
RTRFM’S Block Party
Calling all 90’s babies to the d-floor! Beaufort Street Festival, along with RTRFM, are hosting a 90’s theme schoolyard block partay. Just a hop, skip and jump from the main festival you’ll find the RTRFM parking lot where all the action will be happening. A collection of the local beats plus some ultra hip 90’s tunes will be playing throughout the day while you sip on your refreshing beer or cider and chow down on a pizza. Entry is free so you know it will fill up fast. Entry is via Lois Lane on Beaufort Street.
StART-Up Gallery is something that happens every year at the Beaufort Street Festival and we continue to LOVE it. It is a place for all local artists to display and sell their artwork in an open air market. The gallery is suitable for all ages and who knows…you may even find a piece for that blank white wall in your house that you’ve been staring at for wayyyy too long.
Pizza Eating Competition
Grab your significant other, a friend, that one person you know with the insane stomach capacity and hollow legs or even just a fellow random festival-goer, because a pizza eating competition is happening people! These gourmet delights won’t last very long with the grand prize being a pizza party for 10. Team up in pairs and devour your body weight in cheesy goodness. Registrations will be taken on the day.
Beats ‘n’ Bar
Located at two places throughout the festival, Beats ‘n’ Bar kicks off this year with live performances from local DJ’s, food and bevvies. First stop will be the El Publico Shady Shack, which is going to be an awesome place to chill out with some mates under the breezy shade of Walcott Street. After a beer and maybe a quick recharge nap, head down to Clarence’s for even more eats and drinks.
Short, Back & Sidewalks
The boys at Short, Back & Sidewalks will start off your day with a ‘phresh’ buzz around the back and have your top half looking #onpoint. They’ve taken some leave from their usual home at Weston’s Barber Shop and are helping the people of Perth who are in need. This not-for-profit organisation assists those who need to receive a haircut; ‘free of charge and free of judgement.’
Buk Buk Speedway
This year the Beaufort Street Festival is hosting the Buk Buk Speedway, which consists of remote-controlled chicken sculptures made by arts team Ololo, that people are able to race around a barnyard track at the festival. Yep, you heard right. If you’re an avid lover of remote-controlled chicken sculptures or just want a few good LOL’s in the arvo, head down to the speedway and check it out.
So we left the best ‘til last! You’ve got blisters on your feet, a slightly sweaty back and your arms are tired from carrying bags and abusing your wallet. You’re kinda full but could still eat at the same time and you can feel the sun turning you crispy…but none of that matters because you’re at The Beaufort Street Festival Eat Street. A whole street full of food trucks, pop up restaurants and your fave bar that you went to that one time when you were tipsy and have never had time to go back to. Now we’re not one for spoilers…but trust us when we say you cant miss this.
