The first weekend of July is upon us and we have successfully made it through six months of the year, huzzah! (How are those new years’ resolutions going hmmm?)

We’ve got some pretty sweet things on in Perth this weekend, y'all. There’s USA-themed parties to celebrate Independence Day, as well as lots of wintery goodness and some French bulldogs and a touch of Billy Joel thrown in for good measure.

Here’s 11 ridiculously fun things to do in Perth this weekend.

Friday 1 July


O’Canada!! The Aviary is hosting their Canada Day Party once again this year and there will be more maple leaves, red outfits and crazy accents than ever before. There will also be loads of delicious maple chicken wings, poutine, fireball cocktails and of course, Canadian Club. Its all aboot Canada, eh?!

For all you north-siders, Frostival is a brand new outdoor ice skating rink opening at Sorrento Quay Boardwalk tomorrow. They’ve got the perfect date night packages for all you lovers out there and will be operating until 17 July. Make sure you check out the website for session times.

Included in the Perth Winter Arts Festival this year is the Winter ArtsBar—a transformed storage tunnel turned performance space. The Perth Concert Hall Tunnel has been reinvented and is now being used to portray live performances, multimedia projections and LED installations… and there's a bar. Head down for a drink and check this one out tomorrow night.

The guys at The Blue Flamingo are celebrating Independence Day a little early this year by throwing a bangin’ USA themed 80s party. There will be loads of beer and bourbon, hot wings with blue cheese sauce, tunes from the 80s and even some jazzercise. FYI… Top Gun and Footloose outfits are highly recommended.

Jack Rabbit Slims is turning one, woohooooo! To kick off the grand celebrations, they’ll be throwing the mother of all parties this Saturday night. We’re talking go-go dancers, cocktails, milkshakes, diner eats and a truckload of freebies. Ladies and gents… The Tarantino Ball is coming.

If you’re down for a day full of mud, beers and burgers then the South West Mud Fest will be right up your alley. Our pals at Bootleg Brewery will be getting down and dirty in this 12km obstacle course by hosting all of the shenanigans this Saturday. This will be epic.

Whether you’re a Billy Joel fan or not, you should probably get down to The Rosemount this Sunday afternoon to finish off your weekend in style. A supergroup called The Real Estate Novelists has been formed especially for this memorable occasion… you don’t want to miss this.
