Here's a little secret for the truffle tragics: you don't need a restaurant reservation to get your hands on WA's prized black truffles. Every Wednesday to Friday, Truffle HQ in Subiaco swings open its doors, selling freshly harvested Manjimup truffles direct from the farm while stocks last.

Drop in between 9.30am and 12.30pm to sniff, shop and chat all things truffle with the experts behind Below&Above, or simply follow the sign outside when the fresh harvest arrives.

Deadly Sista Girlz Art Exhibition: Bardip Koorliny Stories Moving Through Time

Art has always been a powerful way to share stories, and this NAIDOC Week, some of the state's youngest First Nations artists are doing exactly that. Returning for its third year, Bardip Koorliny Stories Moving Through Time brings together moving works from more than 30 students in the Waalitj Foundation's Deadly Sista Girlz program, alongside alumni and established First Nations artists.

Celebrating culture, identity and creativity across generations, the free exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience these stories in the heart of Perth's CBD and support the next generation of First Nations artists while you're there.

Christmas In July at Johnny Fox's

Who says you have to wait until December for roast dinners, Christmas pudding and questionable festive knitwear? Johnny Fox's is celebrating Christmas in July all month long, turning its Northbridge pub into a winter wonderland of turkey, gravy, hot toddies and Irish coffees.

Every Sunday, you'll find a traditional Christmas roast loaded with all the trimmings, while the legendary Torky Wrap—stuffed with turkey, ham, stuffing, roast veg and cranberry sauce—is available throughout the month. Live music runs seven nights a week before the festivities wrap up on Sunday 26 July with Santa, a bouncy castle, complimentary Christmas treats and prizes for both the best and worst Christmas jumpers. Turns out roast dinners always made more sense in July anyway.

PIAZZA Photography Prize Exhibition

PIAZZA Fremantle is turning its precinct into an open-air gallery with the inaugural ‘PIAZZA Photography Prize’. The new competition drew more than 250 entries celebrating the people, places and spaces that shape WA's creative identity, with 65 shortlisted works now forming a large-scale outdoor exhibition across the site.

I ❤️ Boorloo NAIDOC Week Art Exhibition

The daily commute is getting a colourful upgrade this NAIDOC Week. One Forty St Georges Terrace is transforming its foyer into a free public gallery, with I ❤️ Boorloo bringing together contemporary works by First Nations artists from across Australia right in the heart of the CBD.

Running for two weeks, the exhibition celebrates culture, Country and storytelling through a diverse collection of paintings and artworks, each offering a unique perspective on identity, healing, family and community. Better still, every piece is available to purchase, giving visitors the chance to support independent First Nations artists while taking home something truly meaningful.

State of Origin

Perth might not get a team in the State of Origin, but we certainly know how to get involved. By kick-off, pubs across the city will be split into a sea of blue and maroon, with every tackle debated, every try celebrated and every referee decision passionately questioned.

The 2026 series comes down to the decider on Wednesday 8 July, as New South Wales and Queensland battle to settle one of Australia's fiercest sporting rivalries. Forget your standard Friday night out. NGALAK NIDJA BILYA (We Are The River) returns to The Rechabite this NAIDOC Week, bringing together First Nations culture, queer joy and an unforgettable night of music, performance and community under one roof.

The lineup flows from powerhouse DJs and live performances to rooftop market stalls and a best-dressed competition with a $1,000 prize for the night's most spectacular look. Inspired by the waterways of Noongar Boodja and raising funds for local First Nations organisations, it's one of those rare nights where dancing until late and supporting a good cause go hand in hand.

Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience

Accio... one ticket to Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience. Hidden among the towering trees of the Perth Hills, this after-dark adventure invites witches, wizards and Muggles alike to step inside the Wizarding World, following an illuminated forest trail lined with magical creatures, spell-casting stations and enchanting scenes inspired by the beloved series.

The journey takes around an hour, weaving through cinematic soundscapes before finishing in a themed village serving up Butterbeer, cosy winter treats and official Harry Potter merchandise. Your Hogwarts letter might never have arrived, but this is probably the next best thing. Ten points to Gryffindor for anyone who turns up in full Hogwarts attire.

Fremantle Truffle Festival

If you've spent the past few weeks adding truffle to absolutely everything, first of all, same. Second, clear the diary. The Fremantle Truffle Festival is back in July, giving WA's favourite fancy fungi three whole days in the spotlight.

Across Freo, chefs will be shaving, folding, grating and grating some more, with truffle-packed menus, exclusive festival dishes, long lunches and one-off events popping up all over town. There'll be live truffle dog demonstrations, expert talks, a dedicated Truffle House and enough earthy goodness drifting through the streets to have your nose doing all the navigating.

Bird Years at Lawson Flats

Head into the city this autumn as renowned WA artist Anna Louise Richardson is taking over Lawson Flats with her new exhibition, Bird Years. This stunning exhibition is a deeply personal collection which traces how birds have intertwined their presence through critical moments of her life. It is her first solo commercial show in Perth, and it is truly captivating. 

Her large-scale drawings perfectly blend striking realism with stylised elements such as dramatic cut-out forms. Think mind-blowing pieces that turn familiar animals into huge emotional symbols of memory and place. It’s striking, moody, and the ultimate weekend culture fix in the heart of the CBD.

At What Cost?

Some questions don't come with easy answers. At What Cost?, the latest production from Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company, is a bold and thought-provoking new play exploring identity, belonging and the responsibilities that come with culture, family and community.

Set at the culturally significant Tasmanian Aboriginal site of Putalina (Oyster Cove), the WA premiere follows Boyd as he grapples with becoming a father while navigating increasingly complex questions around Palawa identity. Honest, timely and deeply moving, the acclaimed production arrives in Perth following sold-out seasons at Sydney's Belvoir St Theatre and tours through Queensland and South Australia.

Passing By Project

You might be heading to RAC Arena expecting a concert, comedy show or Wildcats game, but before you go inside, make time for something a little quieter. Passing By Project is a powerful new exhibition transforming the space outside Door 2 into an open-air gallery showcasing the work of 16 emerging young WA artists.

Exploring themes of connection, resilience and the people we too often overlook, each artwork invites you to stop and reflect on the stories unfolding all around us. Better still, every piece is available to purchase, with proceeds supporting both the participating artists and The Salvation Army WA's Youth Services.

NOM NOM Festival

Winter hibernation? Not in Leederville. For six glorious weeks, the inner-city suburb ditches sleepy season for NOM NOM, with all the bars, restaurants and cafés you know and love teaming up for a festival that's best tackled on an empty stomach.

The program bounces from oyster shucking and mozzarella stretching to Croatian feasts, progressive dinners, cocktail trails and beautifully boozy wine lunches, with plenty more delicious surprises squeezed in between. Skating In Mandurah

Stormie Mills at The Art Gallery of Western Australia

The first solo exhibition by WA artist Stormie Mills is dropping at the gallery: All the secrets are buried between the oceans and the mountains. It captures contemporary urban culture, reflecting on his global movements, personal history, and the encounters that have shaped his practice. His street art is transformational - if you have walked around Perth, you would have spotted his iconic tag. Now, he is bringing this raw urban style inside the gallery walls for a high-impact, personal experience. 

Check out some of the headline pieces, including two 12-metre-long paintings. One channels the chaos of the oceans and the other the harshness of the mountains; together, they explore human vulnerability and resilience. 

The vibe is edgy yet emotionally honest. If you’re looking for something to broaden your mind, this is the exhibition for you. It’s moody, thought-provoking, and stunning, not one to miss!

Sydney Dance Company: Engine

Contemporary dance at its most daring lands in Perth this August, as Sydney Dance Company presents Engine, a triple bill uniting three distinct choreographic voices. Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela's The Journey Itself is Home draws on 17th-century poet Matsuo Bashō, set to a score by Grammy winner Bryce Dessner; Fran Diaz's The Mass Ornament makes its Australian premiere; and Melanie Lane's five-star Love Lock closes the night with costumes by Akira Isogawa and an electronic score from UK artist Clark. Expect a night that's as visually striking as it is emotionally resonant.

Calcio Italiano

Usually, you'd need a passport and about 20 hours in the air to witness rivalries this fierce. This August, all you need is a ticket to Optus Stadium.

For one massive week, four of Italy's biggest football clubs—AC Milan, Inter, Juventus and Palermo—will descend on Perth for three blockbuster clashes, including the legendary Milano Derby and the historic Derby d'Italia.  If that's not enough to get your scarf out, the action spills well beyond the pitch with open training sessions, supporter parties, Italian food, football legends and all the fervent hand gesticulations to make you believe you're in Italy.

10 Nights In Port

Fremantle's beloved winter arts festival is back, evolved from the original Fremantle Festival into a celebration of the port city's creative energy. This year's program is thoughtful, immersive and distinctly local, headlined by a striking political cartoon exhibition from Kambarni, a large-scale ceramic installation ('Train Kiln') built live across the festival and ignited on the second-last night, and 'In Our Hands We Hold', a major exhibition led by First Nations women.

Gascoyne Food Festival

One of WA’s most spectacular regional food festivals is officially back, with the return of the Gascoyne Food Festival this August. Expect 16 days of immersive dining, storytelling and bucket-list-worthy travel experiences as the festival transforms the rugged Gascoyne region into a sprawling celebration of food, culture and place.

This year’s lineup includes some truly wild dining experiences, including The Plantation Feast in Carnarvon with Petition Kitchen’s Jessica Roe, Fireside Yarns with Fervor’s Paul “Yoda” Iskov, the outback-style Whalebone Hoe-Down in Exmouth and the iconic Bullara Station Feast. The festival wraps with Australia’s Last Sunset on Dirk Hartog Island, a remote dining experience at the edge of the continent that honestly sounds like the definition of a once-in-a-lifetime dinner party.

Alongside the major events, the Taste of the Gascoyne Food Trails will once again encourage visitors to eat their way through Shark Bay, Carnarvon and Exmouth as local venues hero regional produce.

Variety Big Top Ball

Nearly a century after a baby girl named Catherine Variety Sheridan inspired the founding of one of the world's largest children's charities, Variety WA is bringing her story full circle. This year's Big Top Ball is raising funds for a Sunshine Coach, a specially equipped vehicle giving kids living with disability and disadvantage safe transport to school, therapy and everyday life.

JazzConnect Scarborough

Time to jazz up your social calendar. JazzConnect is back at Scarborough Beach for the last weekend of August, filling the foreshore with smooth sounds from morning until well after sunset. Telethon 2026

WA's biggest weekend of giving returns to RAC Arena this October, marking another 26 hours of stories, entertainment and community spirit in support of sick kids and their families. This year's lineup includes The Voice coach Kate Miller-Heidke making her Telethon debut, alongside Emma Memma, AFL legends Shane Crawford, Kane Cornes, Campbell "Browny" Brown and Luke Hodge, plus familiar faces from Home and Away, Sunrise and 7NEWS Perth. Last year's event raised a record $90.1 million for 147 charity beneficiaries, expect this one to go even bigger.

As if we needed another reason to disappear to that postcard-perfect pocket of WA affectionately known as 'down south'. Pair'd is back this November, bringing four days of exceptional food, world-class wine and one-off dining experiences to the Margaret River Region.
