Reclab

82-84 Nanson St, Wembley WA 6014

Reclab is like a recovery centre on steroids and my personal go-to on the reg thanks to not only the traditional Finnish sauna and two freezing cold, massive ice baths, but a glorious steam room and warm magnesium plunge pool – two things which can be pretty tricky to find here in Perth and in my opinion, totally enhance the contrast therapy experience.

Owner Pete has put his heart and soul into building a space for a special community, and it really shows. I love that I can head there to completely chill out, or if I’m feeling a bit more energetic, I’ll get into some great chats while I sweat it out and let my nervous system take a chill pill. You’re free to roam around the contrast facilities as you like for the hour and I always see how I’m feeling on the day —sometimes, I’m all about the heat, and other times I can really push myself for a few 3 or 4 minute ice baths. The best bit? Jumping into the magnesium pool and feeling those delightful tingles—makes me feel like I’ve done something really good for myself. If I’ve got a bit of extra time or had a hard gym sesh, I’ll head there early to sit back in the Normatec compression boots with a good book in hand. Pure bliss.

Melt Sauna & Cold Plunge

7-10/1 Forrest Street, Subiaco 6008

This isn't your average wellness studio—Perth’s newest opening, Melt, is redefining the sauna experience with its unique blend of hospitality and health into one very cool (and hot) experience. Inspired by the social culture of the hospitality scene, the space is stripped-back but beautifully considered, with two roomy saunas and a nine-degree plunge pool designed for casual drop-ins and post-session hangs.

To enhance the experience, Melt offers self-serve beverages, including iced coffee from none other than local roaster Micrology with your choice of milk and XO herbal teas. The facility also features “more chat” and “less chat” sections to cater to different preferences and hosts free hour-long sessions each morning from 5am to 6am, aiming to support mental health and encourage early risers to start their day with a wellness boost.

Blue Rosa Spa At Vitality House

Tucked inside West Leederville’s co-working space Vitality House , the oh-so-gorgeous Blue Rosa Spa boasts one of the best pre (or post) work day hot and cold therapy sessions we’ve ever laid eyes on. The session starts off with 30-minutes in the infrared sauna to warm up your body and help you relax and detox those sore muscles and racing mind before pranayama breath coaching gets you ready to plunge into the cold.

The combination of the sauna and 5-degree ice bath can help with everything from muscle recovery and immunity to energising the body with adrenaline to promote focus and productivity in the day. We think this should be mandatory before any big work meeting.

As well as the contrast therapy facilities, you’ll find a cosy lounge with herbal tea, three movement studios, a meditation room, steam therapy, a Pilates machine, gym and a community of wellness professionals on hand so you can book in an appointment whenever needed.

Alchemy’s West Leederville studio takes the traditional sauna experience and elevates it into a full-body healing ritual. The sleek, modern studio is designed with holistic health in mind, offering a serene space where you can truly disconnect from the chaos of daily life. With two beautifully built saunas and an enormous, custom-built ice bath, it’s all about balancing heat and cold to support recovery, reduce stress and boost overall vitality.

The experience here feels a little more elevated—from the minimalist design and calming lighting to the vibe that gently encourages you to slow down and reconnect. Whether you’re sweating it out solo or plunging in with a friend, you’ll leave feeling grounded and refreshed. For the full benefits, alternate between sauna and ice bath rounds—then kick back and soak up the afterglow.

Recovery Lab

Unit 2/20 Jersey St, Jolimont WA 6014

With wellness spaces already dotted across the country, it’s safe to say these guys know their stuff when it comes to science-backed recovery. The sleek Jolimont studio offers a stacked line-up of treatments, but it’s the private infrared sauna suites that really have our attention. Settle in solo, hook up your Bluetooth and queue your favourite podcast while the deep heat works its magic.

Whether you’re chasing relief from muscle soreness, a boost to your immune system, or just some calm after a big day, this is an ultra-satisfying way to reset. And if you’re keen to go further, there’s also compression therapy and ice baths as well as NuCalm where you’ll put on an eye mask and noise cancelling headphones to listen to neuro-acoustic tracks to help your brain go into a relaxed mode and slow down your nervous system.

Best Saunas North Of Perth

Ember Bathhouse

4B Donovan St, Osborne Park WA 6017

Ember Bathhouse has drawn inspiration from bathing ceremonies around the globe to bring Perth an unrivalled soak and steam experience which I can personally attest to. From the moment you step into the converted warehouse space and into a fluffy robe with a tea in hand, you’ll feel like you’ve left the real world behind and trust me when I say this is a wellness experience like no other.

For 90-minutes you get full access to a Finnish sauna, Moroccan hammam steam room, cold plunge and dreamy hot mineral bath. The rainfall showers equipped with Japanese-style onsen tools and snack station truly elevate the experience and spaces are limited to just eight people so there’s plenty of privacy and a real opportunity to get your zen on. For an extra lush experience, book in for a facial or massage after your soak. I did this with my sister and cousins for a birthday present to myself, and I am not sure I’ve ever felt so relaxed during a massage and for hours afterwards—they all said the same, so I knew we’d found a winner.

Clear Mind Studio Inglewood

835 Beaufort St, Inglewood WA 6052

Clear Mind is more than just a place to sweat – it’s an absolute haven for all things health and wellness. The boutique studio is kitted out with infrared saunas, a traditional Finnish sauna and ice bath, float pods and massage rooms so you can really indulge in whatever takes your fancy.

My favourite thing to do here is a serious sweat sesh in the four-seater infrared sauna only available for private bookings. I head there with my beautiful friend Lauren to catch up on life’s latest happenings whilst detoxing and building up my immunity thanks to the infrared benefits, particularly over winter. I just love the feeling of the infrared heat and because the heat isn’t as intense as a Finnish sauna you can stay in there for 45 minutes—I feel so relaxed afterwards and like my muscle tension manages to melt away a bit more than usual. We always chill out and get back to a normal temperature in the lounge with a cup of the cacao or ginger tea.

The Neighbourhood Sauna Hillarys

Hillary’s Boat Harbour, Hillarys WA 6025

Sheltered by the calm waters of Hillary’s Boat Harbour, The Neighbourhood Sauna delivers one seriously soothing escape from the daily grind. The beachfront space is home to a traditional sauna and ice bath—perfect for those wanting to dip their toes (or whole body) into the world of hot-cold therapy.

Whether you’re winding down after a workout or just chasing that post-plunge glow, the setting couldn’t be better for switching off and soaking up the benefits. Between sweat sessions, enjoy the peaceful surrounds and sea breeze wafting in—it’s literally nature’s relaxation soundtrack. If you’re new to ice baths, the team is there to guide you through it, with an emphasis on breathwork and going at your own pace.

Mana Recovery Studio

4 Sanderling St, Stirling WA 6021

Mana Recovery Studio’s mission is to create a community who prioritise physical and mental recovery with a range of services including an infrared sauna, cold immersion therapy and compression boots.

My favourite way to get the most out of my recovery at Mana is by doing a combo of the infrared sauna, ice bath and boots. The state-of-the-art sauna by Found Space uses infrared light to penetrate heat deep into the muscles, joints and tissues to relax the body and promote better sleep, reduce inflammation and deliver oxygen and nutrients to the skin (hello glow). I always get started here for a solid amount of time while sipping on some electrolytes to make sure I’m properly replenished. Then comes that chilly ice bath. So damn hard, but honestly, so worth it. One of the first times I tried a cold plunge was here with my Dad and sister Rach, also lovers of a sauna just like me. We found the cold pretty tough but owners Tess and Ray were there the whole time to coach us through it.

The best part is always getting those NormaTec boots on—the compression flow feels like a massage for your legs and it’s especially good when you know you could pull up sore after a hard workout. Combine it will all of the above and you’ll be walking out feeling just fine!

Melt Haus

Nestled in a leafy suburban street of Scarborough, this boutique sauna and ice bath experience blends modern and traditional elements to create the ultimate in relaxation and my gym coach Jess is one of their biggest fans. She absolutely loves that it’s a family-owned service which adds such a warm and welcoming atmosphere to the experience. “It feels great to support a business that values community and connection, and another highlight is that the sauna is outdoors—there’s just something so refreshing about stepping outside after a relaxing session,” Jess said.

You can opt to go solo (which I actually love for some much-needed phone free, down time) or tackle the heat with a mate in the traditional outdoor barrel sauna where you’ll sweat out toxins, increase circulation and boost your energy levels. If you’re game, up the ante by taking the plunge into the chilly ice bath. Even getting your head under the cold shower will do just the trick and give you a massive dopamine hit.

Sweat and Chill

3 Mundford St, North Beach WA 6020

This cozy North Beach sauna has gained cult status amongst the Perth wellness crowd and it’s pretty easy to see why. Tucked away just a block from the beach, the iconic barrel sauna uses full-spectrum heating technology to reach a balmy 70 degrees—perfect for a deep sweat and serious detox.

With a blend of near, mid and far infrared rays, the heat goes deep into your body to boost  increase your body’s core temperature, helping to maximise recovery, improve mood and sleep and even relieve joint pain. If contrast is your thing, pair your sauna session with a plunge in the timber ice bath outside for the ultimate hot-cold therapy hit. Simple, soothing, and oh-so-effective.

Alchemy Saunas

City Beach and Scarborough

Alchemy’s 20-seat sauna on the shores of City Beach is the most idyllic place to relax and unwind where you’ll have your own enormous plunge pool to cool off in. Like other Alchemy locations, there’s a massive sense of community spirit here and you’ll find plenty of people who’ll be willing to give you a cheer as you embrace the heat of the sauna followed by a dip in the crisp Indian Ocean.

And in Scarborough, the 10-seat sauna has panoramic views of the water and is paired with an ice-cold shower if wandering down to the ocean isn’t your style. Head’s up—we’ve heard the cold shower is just as hard as a plunge itself.

Craigie Leisure Centre

751 Whitfords Ave, Craigie WA 6025

For a sauna experience that’s as epic as it is wallet friendly we’re about to let you in on a secret, although honestly, we think the word’s already out. Cue Craigie Leisure Centre. For just $13 you can spend all day jumping between outdoor Alchemy saunas (there’s even a silent one), an indoor sauna, steam room and spa and of course 25 and 50 metre lap pools. It’s ridiculously good value and if like me, you drag yourself out of bed to swim some laps before work, it’s the best way to cool down—well, heat up. You get what I mean.

I love doing my post-swim stretches in here or some getting sorted with a bit of focus time before heading off for another day in the office. If I’ve got time on the weekend, I’ll do a nice leisurely swim before a couple of hours of switching between all the facilities. It’s a bit of a family tradition and you’ll feel so slick making this your catch-up spot over the pub. Or make it both. No judgement here! My hot tip for the mornings? Passione down the road in Kingsley slays the coffee game.

On one of the coolest streets in Freo, Neighbourhood Sauna’s South Terrace studio offers a holistic blend of therapies designed to recharge your body and rest your mind. Here, you’ll find a wood-fired sauna tucked into a custom-built space overlooking the ocean, so you can get extra sweaty while drinking in those soul-soothing views. The set-up encourages a laid-back flow—spend a few minutes in the intense heat, then cool off with a dip in the sea or some fresh ocean air before heading back in. There’s no pressure to do it any particular way—just listen to your body and let the heat work its magic. It’s an especially dreamy ritual at sunrise or sunset, when the sky turns pastel and the ocean sparkles. BYO towel and prepare for serenity.

Clear Mind Studio Fremantle

The Finnish sauna and ice bath combo at the Inglewood studio was such a hit that the team quickly expanded their offerings by opening a brand-new place in Fremantle. The private rooms with a traditional sauna and ice bath complete with dim mood lighting and your own ensuite facilities will have you feeling like you’ve scored your own mini retreat.

The room is set up with the cutest little light projector to make you feel like you’ve stepped foot into a Scandinavian country and you can either take on the challenge solo or bring a mate or two to help you get embrace the chill. Afterwards, you’ll be able to relax with a cup of their beloved tea in hand as you get ready to conquer your day with a pep in your step.

This gorgeously curated wellness space has been designed with both aesthetics and intention in mind—think calming coastal tones, luxe touches and a soothing sense of stillness the moment you walk in. On the menu? Both dry and infrared saunas to get the sweat flowing, plus icy-cold showers to turn your session into a proper contrast therapy.

Alchemy Saunas

South of the river is totally spoilt for choice when it comes to Alchemy Saunas and the contrast therapy options on offer. By the lust worthy Port Beach you’ll find another one of Alchemy’s life-changing saunas with all-encompassing ocean views and if the weather’s a bit nippy but you still fancy a dip, a post-swim sauna will definitely help ease you into the chilly waves.

At Point Walter, the riverside sauna seats just seven people so if a little peace and quiet is what you’re after, it certainly fits the bill. Sunsets over the river here are nothing short of spectacular and the surrounding landscape of towering trees and greenery make for one of the best spots to sweat and detox.

Over in the heart of Freo, the sauna and ice is not for the faint hearted. Why, you ask? Whilst you can certainly use the session to absorb all the benefits of a sauna, adding in the ice shower is designed to push the boundaries of traditional relaxation, boosting circulation and enhancing recovery. You may think you’re cool with the art of contrast therapy after a few ice baths, but we reckon the shower is a completely different experience—a few minutes of electric-like tingles are worth the rush you’ll get afterwards.

And in their newest East-Freo abode, the dreamy Royal George in East Fremantle is pure perfection. With two built in saunas and four ice baths set within an expansive limestone setting, we promise you’ll never want to leave. Eight-metre-high ceilings and 25 square metres of north-facing windows flood the space with natural light, creating the most tranquil atmosphere one can possibly imagine.
