Pizza night just levelled up. Perth is now home to Australia’s first-ever semi-automated pizza takeaway shop, and it’s not your average slice stop—it’s part vending machine, part futuristic pizzeria, and all about getting the perfect pie, every single time.
Meet TOPITZA, a homegrown startup that’s reimagining how pizza is made. Picture the viral ramen vending machine restaurants in Tokyo, or DIY burger kiosks overseas—but with wood-fired dough, molten cheese, and toppings loaded by a precision-built, Australian-engineered robot.
We've gathered all the info you need to know about their flagship store.

What’s The Deal With Semi-Automated Pizza?
At TOPITZA, the dough is still hand-stretched and the pizzas are baked in traditional ovens, but the repetitive, messy job of topping each pizza? That’s handled by their in-house invention: a proprietary pizza-topping machine.
But why does this matter? In an industry where efficiency of labour is key, funnily enough, this IS one job that a robot can do better. By automating the fiddly job of pizza topping, TOPITZA keeps labour costs down, guarantees every slice is consistent, and reduces waste—all while serving up the same goodies you’d expect from a traditional pizzeria.
Even better, the setup is designed for scale, with compact shops that can run in as little as 30–40 square metres, and machines that can smash out up to 100 pizzas an hour with just two or three staff.
About The Brand
TOPITZA isn’t your average cornerside pizza joint—it’s the passion project of Perth locals Arash Vahdat and Raman Sarmadi, who have spent nearly seven years (and their own cash) turning a wild idea into reality. Cracking food-tech in Australia (where labour is pricey, red tape is everywhere, and hardware startups rarely thrive) was never going to be easy, but they stuck with it.
The name TOPITZA is a mash-up of “Top It + Pizza,” a nod to the automated topping process and the brand’s mission to deliver the ultimate slice experience. Since 2017, they’ve gone from sketching ideas and building prototypes to running overseas pilots, reworking second-gen machines, trialling in Brisbane kitchens, and finally opening their first official Perth store in 2025.
The Future Of Takeaway Pizza
The next evolution of TOPITZA’s machine is expected to integrate AI, with the potential to create personalised pizza recipes based on customer mood or taste preferences. Despite being a newcomer on Perth’s food scene, the brand has already picked up multiple 5-star reviews on Uber Eats and DoorDash, with early customers praising flavour and consistency.
Behind the scenes, the model is built for growth: automation keeps setup and running costs low, the compact system makes it perfect for dark kitchens and small-footprint stores, and the proprietary IP has been fully developed and tested in Australia.
The kicker? TOPITZA hasn’t raised external funding yet, making this a rare chance for franchisees and investors to get in early on a homegrown food-tech story that’s primed to go national—and potentially global.
