Whether you've just been hit with a dress-up party invite, are locking in your Oktoberfest getup or just thinking ahead for Halloween, we've hunted down the best costume shops in Brisbane.

After all, we all know the more you put into a theme, the more fun you have, so you'd better get a costume sorted stat. Brisbane has a ton of fancy dress shops that can help you find the perfect outfit or some accessories to add to things you have at home. Here’s our pick of Brisbane’s best costume shops for some serious dress up cred.

Camelot Costumes

Brisbane City

Once you make your way down the scary staircase, you'll discover Camelot Costumes is a costume hunter's dream. Just allow yourself plenty of time to search through the archives and you'll be rewarded with a great selection of horrific Halloween outfits to rent or buy, as well as accessories like wigs, masks, jewellery, stockings and even tattoos.

Lifeline Vintage Revival

A one-stop costume shop, Lifeline Vintage Revival in Annerley has to be the coolest retro costume shop in town, and there’s an added bonus—all funds raised go straight to Lifeline. Clothing has been split into eras like 70s, 80s and 90s and there’s a great range of accessories (new and used). You might pay a little more than to hire a costume, but you’re sure to find something a bit different, and you’ll have the added feel good factor.

By the time you get your costume, makeup and drinks, that dress up party is looking pretty damn expensive. Before you downgrade to the old cask wine, check out Amazon's costumes. There are plenty of surprisingly affordable fits that'll tick the box and leave you with enough money for that Uber home.

If dressing up is something you do on a regular basis, you’ve probably seen the wisdom of buying your own outfit, but if Halloween is the only time you go all out, then head to Disguises in Woolloongabba and unleash your inner Austin Powers, burlesque dancer, zombie or gangster. They've been around since 1983, so they've got a sizeable back catalogue, and even ship Australia-wide.

The Costume Company

Annerley And Kedron

Express your wild side and head to The Costume Company where, aside from outfits, a wide selection of accessories including vampire’s teeth, fake blood, toy cleavers, blood-stained rags, fake skin and scars. All their costumes are sorted into handy themes, from Star Wars to Disney princesses (same company, vastly different looks...) to make it easy to find what you're looking for.

Cracker Jack Costumes

For classic creepy outfits head to Cracker Jack Costumes. What started a as small craft shop selling wigs and masks in Indooroopilly, now boasts a wide collection of costumes for all ages, wigs, masks, hats, hosiery and accessories. Get in early to secure our favourite costume, the Putrid Prom Queen, which includes a bloody tattered prom dress, Miss Living Dead sash, zombie crown and wig.

When you just can't find the one you're looking for, try It's the Aussie outpost of the international megastore and has a ridiculously big selection. Seriously, you'll spend hours trawlin through options until you finally narrow it down to three and realise you're going to have to do several mid-party costume changes.

Costumes Heaven

You'll need to allow a few weeks to guarantee your fit arrives in time (sorry, all you last minute shoppers), but boy does this online store have the goods. This is our go-to if you're looking for niche pop-culture characters, with an insane collection of anime, gaming and entertainment-related costumes.

Let's face it, not everyone has time to poke through endless racks in store—that's where comes in handy. This massive Aussie-based online costume store has everything under the sun so you'll have no problem finding what you need. Just make sure to leave enough time for delivery.
