The Indulgent Index: These Are 9 Of Brisbane’s Most Decadent Dishes To Try In 2026
Indulgent. Rich. Decadent. For some people, those words are all that’s needed to draw you into the closest restaurant, knife and fork at the ready. For others, they come with the stomach scaries that may keep you within the confines of your own pantry. More often than not, when it comes to living the good life, it’s found in moments with great mates and dirty martinis, at the bottom of a creamy gelato sundae, the first mouthful of a spicy curry or even just the thought of making a reservation at the hot new spot in town. The good life isn't typically found in the stress of finding a dish that isn’t served with a side of heartburn, and it’s certainly not found in missing out on the experience altogether.
Enter Rennie*, a handy little dining companion that doesn’t let heartburn get in the way of living the good life. It neutralises 99% of stomach acid in less than 60 seconds, which basically means if you’re in for a whole lot of spice, a moment of indulgence or a sweet treat, you can leave the heartburn worry at home.
Which brings us to The Indulgent Index—your guide to Brisbane’s most decadent eats and sips right now. Consider this your excuse to order the good stuff.
Croissants
Darvella Patisserie | Shop 1/37 Oxford Street, Bulimba

This hole-in-the-wall bakery is serious about the carbs. Sugary jam-filled doughnuts, raspberry hot choco cinnamon buns, cookie butter lattes topped with cold foam. The real MVP? Darvella’s croissants. Flaky, buttery, divine pastry with no limit to how flavour-packed these can go. The Darvella pastry team have fun here—sometimes it’s double-baked Biscoff bombs, other times it’s banana bread-made-croissant. Reading that might already kick-start your reflux—not the case with Rennie* in hand. Go nuts, you’re in good hands.
Matcha Hokkaido Cheesecake
Mountain River Patisserie | 84 Mango Street, Runcorn
There’s cheesecake, then there’s Mountain River Patisserie’s Matcha Hokkaido cheesecake. It’s soft mascarpone, decadent cream cheese and premium matcha. Despite the temptation to go for the weekly special, this menu mainstay at one of Brisbane’s best Japanese cafes is undeniably delicious. You can order by the slice, but one mouthful and you wish you’d gone the full square.
Seared Kingfish
Rogue Bistro | 14 Austin Street, Newstead

Newstead’s Rogue Bistro is anything but rogue. It’s a modern Australian diner, luxe in all ways, dishing phenomenal food. The five-course degustation menu changes up monthly to keep things seasonal and interesting. So, when all the dishes are equal in excellence, selecting one for this list isn’t challenging when everything coming out of the kitchen is infused with indulgence. At the moment, the seared kingfish doused in miso caramel and bathed in a bed of sautéed leek and kaffier lime broth is chef's kiss.
Marble King Wagyu Eye Fillet
+81 Sushi Kappo | 259 Montague Road, West End
Been eyeing off Brisbane’s new gluten-free 12-seater omakase? You’d be right to; the multi-course seafood-centric experience is bucket list worthy. The set menu is dialled in with precision and, dare we say, perfection. You’re in for 10 impeccable courses, and we’re here to point out the marble king wagyu eye fillet. That said, the menu is deeply seasonal, with chef Kobayashi leading the charge. No matter what you’re met with at +81 Sushi Kappo, it promises an unforgettable experience.
Champagne Lobster Spaghettini
Otto | Shop 1, River Quay, Sidon Street, South Brisbane

If it’s been a hot second since you’ve lived la dolce vita, Otto is here with their Champagne lobster spaghettini with the reminder you needed. Riverside dining has never been better with a bowl of handmade pasta. The Champagne lobster, the garlic, the lemon butter, the bottarga—it’s next-level. Why stop there, though? Wednesday to Sunday lunchtime, you can throw in a glass of vino and a dessert of your choosing for just $45. Pasta Club has your name written all over it, sans the indigestion.
Keema Pau
Cafe Disco | 69 Hardgrave Road, West End
A beloved addition to the U:L 100 Hospo Legends list, Cafe Disco shines in the category of indulgent dishes. Yes, their cold crew mont blanc is indulgent in an everyday way, but we’re pointing the spotlight on their keema pau. We’re talking fennel-spiced lamb ragu piled on a thick slice of cornbread topped with feta, pickles and mint chutney.
Roti Tacos
West End Coffee House | 80 Vulture Street, West End

Tacos? Delish. Thai-inspired roti tacos? With slow-cooked pulled pork? Flaky, golden and packed with spice? We're sold. Don’t let the fear of indulgence scare you off here. As indulgent as it may be, West End Coffee House serves up these fresh bangers seven days a week and with Rennie* in hand, heartburn is a thing of the past.
Goat Curry
Himalayan Cafe | 640 Brunswick Street, New Farm
If you’ve steered clear of spicy curries because of impending doom (aka. heartburn, aka. ruined night), fear no longer. Welcome back to the world of spice and a very warm welcome to Himalayan Cafe’s goat curry. It’s beloved by all who visit for very good reason. The meat is tender, the curry is rich and nourishing. And it delivers only mouthfuls of deliciousness, a happily filled tummy and nothing of heartburn. Enjoy.
Iced VoVo Doughnuts
Pippa’s Pantry | 565 Old Cleveland Road, Camp Hill

It’s a bad day to be an iced VoVo doughnut at Pippa’s Pantry when a hungry pastry lover walks through the doors. Whether you’re plant-based or not, the Camp Hill vegan bakery is brimming with cupcakes, cookies, slices and one mighty iced VoVo doughnut. It takes the crown as the most popular doughnut flavour—and potentially the longest, too.
