Whether you’re into food, drink, visual art, music or schnitzels, Melbourne’s pretty lit this week. There’s plenty to eat, see and do...in that order. Let’s get started, shall we?

Here are 5 awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

Monday 24th April

Come hungry with your eyes on the $500 prize and ETERNAL SCHNITZEL GLORY. Book now to beat the current record holder and epic eating machine, The Ressler! (Yes, he has a schnitzel-eating secret identity. Don’t you?)

POETRY READING AT ABSINTHESALON

It’s time to get your word on. Featuring award-winning poet legend John McKelvie and hosted by Melbourne-based writer Lisa McLean, it’s going to be an intimate night, sans microphone: it’s all about raw voices reading aloud their best musings, new and experienced wordsmiths alike. If you’ve got poems to share, come on down to the spanking new nightcap in town.

VACCINATION CAFE

It’s a double-shot that’s perfect for the winter season - grab a free coffee AND flu shot on the annual Day of Immunology! With extended hours and a more immersive experience (think film screenings and speakers) this year’s Vaccination Café aims to trump last year’s success. Whooping cough boosters will also be available for eligible participants.

Unleash your inner Aguilera for a $1000 cash prize in a friendly competition hosted by world-class comedian Diana Nguyen. Choose your category: stand-alone diva who won’t share the stage, Gwyneth Paltrow/Huey Lewis-style duet, or a band of three or more.

Even if you just wanna sit back and enjoy the show, you should still be there for the FREE beer from Sample Brew (for the first 400 attendees, because karaoke is thirsty work), limited edition disco donuts from St Gerry’s, Melbourne’s best dumplings, spot prizes from JB Hi-Fi and giveaways galore!
