5 Awesome Things To Do In Melbourne This Week

By Amber De Luca-Tao - 19 Jun 2017

Congrats! You’ve successfully made it halfway through the year (and halfway through June). But is it just us, or is mid-month sadness actually a thing? Just in case it actually is legit, we’re ensuring that you (and all of your senses) have plenty to get up to. Did you really think we’d leave you to fend for yourself this week? Never <3.

Here’s our list of 5 awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

Monday 19 June

Your Open Relationship Toolkit

Sometimes it's hard to not see lovers like Pringles... you don't just wanna have one, you want them all. But by definition, that's not really how relationships work, at least not the old-fashioned ones. But an open relationship? Well, that's a whole different ball game. This workshop is designed to give you all the skills, a toolkit if you will, to be able to be with more than one person at a time. Now doesn't that sound cheeky?

Where: 23 Meyers Place, Melbourne CBD, VIC 3000
When: 7pm-9pm

Thursday 22 June

We all want to be more #fitspo, but 4am starts and clean eating will (surprise surprise) turn most foodies off. Don’t give up hope yet, because the AM:PR.RC run crew supported by Nike is equal parts street-savvy and just well, very Melbourne. The idea behind this running crew is not to compete with the person next you, but to motivate each other.

During every run, you’ll hit some of Melbourne finest hotspots, with this week marking the final run of this season. There are three possible running routes that may or may not involve bao and a secret pizza bar (yes, we’re legit). Consider this your opportunity to discover Melbs and your fitness potential, while making some friends and eating a slice of pizza (or ten) along the track too. Now that’s goals.

Where: Smith & Daughters, 175 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy VIC 3065

Recharge Mindfulness Course

These days it’s all about having a social media presence, but we can all agree it’s starting to affect our IRL presence. There are so many things we have to thank our digital devices for, (like this awesome article for example), but we think you’ll agree that being able to ‘switch off’ from our phones is defs easier said than done. But, where there’s a will, there’s a way. Taking a course in mindfulness will enable you to learn techniques to help you de-stress, maximise productivity and even improve relationships. Don’t take that Instagram hiatus, take this course instead.

Where: One Roof, 77/79 City Road, Southbank VIC 3006
When: June 22nd

Xiu Xiu Plays The Music Of Twin Peaks

Yep it’s official. Twin Peaks is well and truly back on the scene. The Twin Peaks Diner took over Gelato Messina earlier this year, and now hailing all the way from the US, post punk and synth pop group, Xiu Xiu are doing their part to boost the revival here in Melbs. Their special live performance won’t simply recreate the original music, but will provide an entirely new interpretation on the beats originally created by Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch. All the chaos and drama of the original sounds. BYO cherry pie and talking log. This will be better, in the words of Agent Cooper, than a damn fine cup of coffee.

Where: The Substation, 1 Market Street, Newport VIC 3015
When: 8pm

Model Citizens By Circus Oz

Ladies and gents, Circus Oz is back in town with their latest show, Model Citizens. The show explores the many myths of modern Australia, naturally in true Circus Oz flair by flinging acrobats back-flipping off a giant peg. We don’t wanna spoil any other show highlights for you, but FYI, there’s a giant pair of aerial undies. Soz, we had to mention that. The rush of watching other humans/professional near-death-activities performers while eating hot jam doughnuts is an experience you never know you needed… until now. You’re welcome.

Where: The Circus Oz Big Top, Birrarung Marr
When: 7.30pm

Wanna start planning your social activities for July? Good news, this year's Open House Melbourne line-up just dropped today.
