It’s not every day you find a neighbour who’ll let you open a bar on their roof, but Embla Wine Bar hit the jackpot. Melbourne’s newest rooftop cinema and bar is opening this weekend on the roof of the Melbourne Theosophical Society thanks to the efforts of Embla owners Christian McCabe and Dave Verheul. The pop up will be a fitting farewell to the historical building before it starts a new life as a boutique hotel. 

As part of MPavilion’s comprehensive season, the long-running cultural festival is resurrecting Melbourne’s much-loved Rooftop Cinema for a very limited season.

Melbourne, you’ve earned this one. Fed Square is being transformed into a massive entertainment hub for summer, with the space being covered in socially distanced grass zones, beanbags, deck chairs and of course, plenty of umbrellas for shade. 

One of Melbourne’s most cherished independent cinemas, The Sun Theatre, is setting up shop with a second location in the Gantry Plaza at Seaworks Williamstown.
