l’altro mondo is one of Albert Park's favourite Italian restaurants. The food is fresh and flavoursome and there are some interesting twists on traditional dishes. Co-owner and head chef, Domenico De Marco has worked as a chef in the kitchens of several Michelin Star restaurants in Europe and has worked with Luke Mangan and Neil Perry before he opened l'altro mondo. A local gem.

If you order the Bibimbap we recommend you try the spicy sauce that comes as an accompaniment, it’s made in-house and is top notch.

When Kevin Pak opened Melbourne's first, Tokyo-inspired 24-hour ramen joint in 2015, Melbourne slurped it up. Menya Sandaime may have recently rebranded as Shujinko, but the choice of four classic ramen broths and a range of oozy, deep-fried sides remain. The Black Ramen (which is coincidentally, not that black) is a soul-warming mix of rich tonkotsu and shellfish soup. Pair it with extra lashings of fatty, smoked chasyu (pork) and oh-my-god-good gyoza. But choose your visiting times wisely soup slurpers, there's less than 40 seats in this popular Japanese-styled eatery.

The venue celebrates all things simple and tasty—bourbon, charcoal chicken and open fires—all set within a 70s lounge-style log cabin venue. It's one of the best dive bars in Melbourne for a laid-back beer with friends or a chow down on some delicious no-frills food (burgers, fried chicken and loaded fries, as well as salad and mash combos).

The Lincoln Hotel
The Lincoln Hotel is a friendly pub in Carlton. With a fantastic food offering that goes beyond your standard pub food, they are dishing up delights such as rabbit terrine with lambs tongue and tonkatsu and coffee cured ocean trout with radish and nashi pear. The desserts menu is equally appealing; the lime curd with honey marshmallow, macadamia and camomile caught our eye. This isn’t to say that there aren’t also everyone’s favourite pub meals on offer. Steak, lamb shoulder and bangers and mash are all on the list.

Situated in the heart of Richmond's Bridge Road, Anchovy is pushing the boundaries and doing it beautifully. Dishes such as braised goat and grilled gurnard piqued our curious streak without completely scaring us away. The brains behind Anchovy have aimed to pay homage to their South East Asian roots, while using modern cooking techniques and modern Australian influences.
