Hole-y moly are we glad the bagel revolution made it to Perth! That dense, chewy bread that was once almost impossible to find in Perth is now lining the cabinets of so many of our favourite cafes.
From breakfast bagels to braised beef bagels, we’ve found 12 of Perth’s best bagels!
The Holy Bagel Co.
The crew at The Holy Bagel are making some of the best traditional boiled bagels in the whole of Perth! You can get these bad boys home delivered, otherwise you can pick them up from the bagel filling experts at Hylin, Satchmo, Max & Sons and Engine Espresso Room (just to name a few).
Satchmo get their bagels from The Holy Bagel Co and then work all sorts of magic on them to bring the good people of Perth traditional New York style bagels every day of the week. Whether you’re after smoked salmon with cream cheese, a big ol’ sloppy joe bagel or a simple blueberry bagel, Satchmo will sort you out.
Brie, fig and prosciutto inside a cheese and jalapeno bagel… This is what we call living! We love everything that comes out of this little hole in the wall coffee shop and Bookend's bagels are no exception.
Max + Sons Coffee
Max + Sons do a different spin on the brekky bagel with scrambled eggs so you can eat it on the run without worrying about yolk dripping all over your clothes. They’ve also got a turkey number which makes for the perfect lunch when you’re rushing about the city.
Engine Room Espresso
The crew at Engine Room Espresso also get their bagels from The Holy Bagel Co and then do all sorts of wonderful things with them. Our fave is the beef brisket toasted bagel which is full of melted cheesey goodness!
Livingstone’s Urban Jungle
Livingstone’s Raging Bull was listed as one of our top 50 meals to try in 2016 and for good reason. Choc-full of red wine braised beef short rib, balsamic caramelised onions and homemade cauliflower cheese this bad boy will have you dreaming about bagels for days!
Getting their bagels from The Holy Bagel Co, Hylin adds egg, bacon and the most delicious sauce to bring us their famous brekky bagel. Their New Yorker Rueben bagel is also ridic and should be added to your bagel bucket list stat.
Go to Driphouse for one of Perth’s best brekky bagels and a coffee for only 10 bucks! They also do a smoked salmon bagel which is pretty darn delicious.
The breakfast bagels at Layup in Northbridge are all sorts of gooey delicious. With egg, bacon, avo, mushies and relish, what’s not to love?
Recess On Barrack
Barrack Street bagels for all! Recess on Barrack have all sorts of bagels which you can schmear with cream cheese or if that’s not your thing you can put an Aussie twist on things and opt for vegemite or honey.
Temptations are whipping out all sorts of delish takeaway food and their bagels are just one of the reasons we regularly stop by this little espresso bar in Claremont Quarter. The roast chicken with their special mayo is a winner but we struggle to go past the breakfast bagel no matter what time of day it is.
Bagels & Beans
If you find yourself in West Perth and in need of a bagel you can stop in at Bagels & Beans to sort out that craving. Grab a toasted one for breakfast, one with the lot for lunch or grab a dozen to take home and eat at your leisure.
