It’s the start of the week that sets you up for success, right? Well, if eating out every night is what it takes, then that’s what we plan to do. If you’re on board with our plan, kick off your week with an art exhibit, then dive head first into a Nutella bomb, free burgers, and wine. So much wine. We know you want in on this one.
Here are five awesome things to do in Sydney this week.
Monday 5 February
Pipilotti Rist: Sip My Ocean
The MCA has done it again, bringing to us one damn incredible exhibition, this time by experimental video artist Pipilotti Rist. Her installations make use of video and sculpture, completely submerging the viewer (ahem, that’s you) into a kaleidoscope of projections, so you’ll feel like you’re on another freaking planet. She explores the connection between nature, the body and technology, and thanks to her recent immersive environments installations this has never been more awesome. Head over here for more info on this insane exhibition.
When: Until 18 February
Where: Museum of Contemporary Art, The Rocks
Cost: Adults: $22
International Nutella Day
Without doubt Nutella is the downfall for most, if not all of us. Whether it is by the spoon, on toast or in shakes, the hazelnut spread is the stuff of Gods and we can’t get enough of it. The guys at Salt Meats Cheese seem to agree because they’ve invented a menu completely focused on the good stuff. We’re not joking around when we say you can get a Nutella espresso martini to go with your Nutella Oreo calzone. This is madness. Just about all Salt Meats Cheese locations will have the limited edition menu so there’s no reason why you can’t get your hands on it.
When: Monday 5 – Wednesday 28 February
Where: All Salt Meats Cheese Sydney locations
Tuesday 6 February
Free Burgers At Foxhat Burgers
In celebration of passing 1000 likes on Facebook, Foxhat will be giving back to their oh-so-loyal customers by putting on $1000 worth of free burgers this Tuesday. Now that is a LOT of patties. What’s even better, they’ll be making their classic bacon cheeseburger and fried chicken burger for only 10 bucks a pop. We did the maths and that means 100 of you will score a free burger #winning. To wash down all of the free eats, $5 schooners, house wine and mixed spirits will be flying over the bar. There isn’t much we can fault with this situation—head here for more info.
When: Tuesday 6 February
Where: Foxhat Burgers, Newtown
Wednesday 7 February
Simpsons Trivia Night
The time has come to bring back all those many hours of watching The Simpsons—a trivia night all about the people of Springfield. Test your knowledge, or test your friends’ knowledge to see who comes out on top after finally putting that useless (definitely not useless) information to good use. Because when it comes down to it, who knows Bart’s middle name? More details here.
When: 7:30-9:30pm Wednesday 7 February
Where: Summer Hill Hotel
Cost: Free, registration is essential
World’s First Wine Temperature Pop-Up
In a world first, Taylors wines has joined forces with Duncan Welgemoed, Executive Chef of Africola, to create a dinner like never before. The evening is putting all the focus on temperature, of both the wine and the food, with guests visualising the night through smartphone aided cameras that are able to show temperature through low-light and infrared technology. Mind. Blown. Forget what you know about cold whites and room temp reds, these wines will be served at their own peak temperatures to get the max flavour, and we’re all about that. Head here to book.
When: 6pm and 8pm seatings from 7-10 February
Where: Commune, Waterloo
