Dumplings are everything to us. We rounded up our fave dumplings last year already, but since then some pretty epic dumpling offerings have come to our attention, so we’re back again taking one for the team and sampling Brisbane’s best dumpling offerings, the 2016 edition. Here’s where to find them:
Maru Korean BBQ
Brisbane
Korean’s know how to do dumplings right. There’s a few dumplings on offer at Maru, but our pick is the king size dumplings (wangmandu). These dumplings are huuuge and are an 11/10 on the taste scale.
Madame Wu
Brisbane
Moreton Bay Bug dumplings are a thing that exists, so if I were you I’d probs stop reading now and head on over to Madame Wu to try them out. There’s also wagyu, scallop and pork dumplings on offer too.
Sunrise Vietnam
Mt Gravatt
Sunrise Vietnam do a damn good deep fried wonton, for less than a 5 dollar note. Obviously, you need to pair them with one of their tasty pho’s too. Expect friendly service and tasty, tasty dumplings.
Heya Bar
Fortitude Valley
The mushroom and tapioca gyoza is the perfect vego option for dumpling lovers while the flash fried Asian spice chicken dumplings pack more of a punch for the carnivores out there. Plus, Heya Bar is open late so you can get your fix at all times of the night!
Taste Gallery
Sunnybank
Taste Gallery has a rep as one of Brisbane’s top Yum Cha spots, but their xiao long bao are on another level entirely.
Bishamon
Spring Hill
$10 at Bishamon in Spring Hill will get you gyoza, soup, rice, salad and two sushi rolls – that’s a damn good deal as far as we’re concerned. Not only is it easy on the wallet, Bishamon’s dumpling are an explosion of flavour too.
Phil’s Dumpling Envy
Eat Street Markets
Phil’s handmade dumplings are as fresh as they come. Word of warning though, there’s always a line for these parcels of deliciousness so order in bulk, because let’s be real, you’ll be going back for seconds anyway.
Steamed
Brisbane
Former food truck Steamed, has been settled into their wheel-less shop front for a while now, but their tasty dumpling offerings are as on point as ever.
Tibetan Kitchen
Spring Hill
Tibetan Kitchen’s momo are Tibet’s answer to dumplings. Thank you Tibet, coz these are delish.
Little Red Dumpling Bar
Sunnybank
Dumpling + bar = yes. With an offering of both meat and vego dumplings, fried and steamed, Little Red Dumpling Bar is a winner. Judging by the crowds, we’re guessing we aren’t the only ones who love this place!
