Sunday the 6th of September marks the one day a year we attempt to repay our Dad, for being a champ and raising us without an iPad to distract us. Maybe you need to make up for crashing his car, or perhaps you just want to say thanks for coming to all your gymnastics meets or forcing you to play the piano throughout your childhood. Whatever the case is, food is surely the best way to get families together and celebrate.
Here’s where to spoil Dad this Father’s Day:
Spring Food & Wine
You might have to get in a day early, because Spring is closed on Sunday. Dad, however, won’t mind, heck might not even notice, when you take him into the leafy oasis that is Spring Food & Wine. Saturday brunch here is a certain crowd pleaser, with an abundance of breakfast and lunch options to be enjoyed in the bright, open space. Feel free to bring the whole extended family, because the large tables here make dining with big groups a breeze.
The Morrison Hotel
Dads’ love a good pub meal, and The Morrison Hotel is that and so much more. The Hotel that’s likely older than your Dad is known for its steaks and woodfire pizzas and on top of that has one of Brisbane’s most comprehensive choices of whisky. Cheers to that.
If your Dad is a little bit hipster and a touch fancy, take him to Gordita, where he’ll be wildly impressed with the Diamond Bay Clams and the Spiced Morcilla. If he’s a ravenous carnivore he will also enjoy the 1kg grass fed T-bone steak.
Hundred Acre Bar
If you’re Dad tends to say ‘WHAT?’ a lot, Hundred Acre Bar might be an optimal choice. Located in St Lucia Golf Course, the stunning restaurant overlooks the green, and is outdoors so the noise is not too obtrusive for your old pa. Meals here are also top notch, and why not have a round of golf after lunch to really treat Dad to a day he’ll remember.
Indulge Dad in seafood overlooking the Brisbane River at Aquitaine. The Brasserie is another venue great for big families, with sprawling tables to fit every Dad and his dog. Dad will certainly be happy with the classic options on offer, and everyone will enjoy the view.
Bar Alto at The Powerhouse exudes the perfect environment for a celebration, with high ceilings ands cool hanging lights to add to the vibe. The lamb ragu, or the huge rib-eye is bound to make Dad’s day.
