Best Cafes and Restaurants Auckland

Weekend, it’s great to see ya. Like those who have come before you, we’re going to fill you with one of our favourite activities—eating. From beautiful restaurants to dumpling joints and pasta parlours, here are five cafes and restaurants to visit this weekend in Auckland. Happy eating!

Odettes Eatery

Auckland City

Sitting in City Works Depot, Odettes is the ultimate all-day, inner-city eatery where you can go from coffee and crepes to vino and sharing plates. Not only is it a seriously beautiful space, the menu is full of both seasonal and signature dishes including herbed scramble, wild goat arancini, angus brisket and their Auckland-famous mushroom donuts with whipped feta and Thai basil. Make sure you leave room for the pumpkin mousse. It brings together candied apple, vanilla ice cream and cinnamon donuts, and is 100 per cent to die for.

New Flavour

Weekends are pretty much made for dumplings and Balmoral’s New Flavour is exactly where to get your fix. One of the most popular dumpling joints along Dominion Road, New Flavour will have you shovelling perfectly steamed parcels of deliciousness alongside spring onion pancakes, sizzling Mongolian lamb and other tasty creations. It’s also BYO (yippee!) so book in your crew and prepare for an epic yet slightly rowdy dinner.

Pasta & Cuore

Mt Eden

Mt Eden’s very own slice of Italy, Pasta & Cuore is a haven of everything good about Italian food—pasta, antipasti and more pasta. You’ll find rich ragout dishes and creamy carbonara as well as beautiful antipasti boards to share and lovely desserts. They also run pasta-making courses for those who want to bring their inner-Italian to life!

The Tannery

New Lynn

A weekend that doesn’t feature bagels and coffee ain’t a weekend we wanna know about. Luckily, The Tannery in New Lynn have a knack for serving up those two things. The spot is a project between Mt Atkinson Coffee and Kohu Road Ice Cream (yes, that means affogato), and their bagels are something to rave about. Choose between a meaty 12-hour BBQ brisket or sweet s’mores bagel and wash it down with a brew in the trendy, industrial space. All the bagels come on cute wooden boards and are totally worth a gram.

Mt Eden

Meat lovers, if you’re yet to visit Cazador, this weekend is your weekend! The Mt Eden restaurant specialises in wild food including game meats and ingredients from Kiwi hunters and producers. Expect the likes of venison, rabbit and if you’re keen on offal, there’s even lamb’s brain. Fish and vegetarian dishes are also available for those who aren’t big on meat, and the local craft beer and boutique wine menu will set you up for a jolly good time.
