An Epic Five-Day Festival Is Coming Auckland!

If you’re anything like us, you love the likes of street food, Sunday sessions and a good ol’ night out. We mean, what’s not to love?!

You can have all of the above (and so much more!) at Auckland’s unmissable five-day festival. We’re talking about the first-ever Day-Night Test between the BLACKCAPS and England.

Challenging all your pre-conceptions about cricket, the Eden Park event is set to be a total bash. Unfolding over five days, there will be thrilling action on (and off) the pitch with each day/night offering something unique.

Not sure when to head along? We’ve teamed up with NZC to help you find your perfect night out. Here’s what’s going down.

Thursday | Networking Or Not Working

Round up your colleagues for an afternoon of ‘networking’ at Eden Park. Duck out of the office early with twilight tickets available from 4pm. Pro tip: grab one for the boss and fast-track your ‘employee of the month’ award. As day one of the Test, they’re pulling out all the stops with ice-cream from Kapiti, refreshing pours of craft beer and barbers from Barkers Groom Room.

Friday | Night Markets

The weekend is officially in sight. And we all know what that means…it’s time for feasting! Enjoy cricket alongside street food at the mouth-watering Friday night markets. Brought to us by the team at Kennards Hire, devour Mexican fare from Taco Loco, meaty goodness from Black Stag Deli and Latino Street Food’s flavoursome eats. Wash it down with a bevvy (or two) from the craft beer bar and recover from your food coma in a bean bag. Cricket never tasted better!

Saturday | Family Time, Fun Time

If you’ve got kids in tow, Saturday is the ultimate family day out. The sprogs can get a taste for different sports with Eden Park’s outer oval hosting New Zealand’s Biggest Sports Showcase. They’ll be kid-friendly baseball, netball, rugby and—of course—cricket. The best part? You can nab a free junior ticket with every paying adult ticket. Saturday’s fun-filled antics also gives you (yes, you!) the chance to go onto the field during the dinner break.

Sunday | The Sunday Session

If there’s one thing Aucklanders love, it’s a good ol’ Sunday session. Think: chilling with your squad, sipping on refreshing bevvies and watching some sporting action. Sounds like the perfect Sunday, right? Sit back, relax and settle in for a lazy Sunday sesh like no other. All you need to do is wave your arms for the inevitable Mexican wave (and carb-load on fries, obvs).

Monday | The Final Showdown

Cue the music… It’s the final countdown, err, showdown. Feel the tension in the air as the final result unfolds. Who will walk away on top? Will a cheeky last-minute six swing the result?! England’s last test at Eden Park was a real nail-biter and this time promises to be no different. Our advice? Don’t miss out on the thrill of the final day!

So, what night will YOU be heading along to? Watch history in the making as the BLACKCAPS take on England in the first-ever Day-Night Test match. See you there!
