Friday drinks deserve to be a little bit fancy. Whether you prefer it shaken, stirred, or on the rocks we’ve worked our way through Auckland and put together the prettiest cocktail list for your drinking pleasure. It was really tough work, but someone’s gotta do it.

Espresso Martini | SPQR

Ponsonby

Nothing says TGIF like an espresso martini at SPQR. The staple ‘start to a night out’ drink is served in a stemmed martini glass with three coffee beans on top and just the right amount froth. It tastes as good as it looks too and combines our two loves—coffee and alcohol.

Bangkok Iced Tea | Mekong Baby

Ponsonby

The Bangkok Iced Tea is like summer in a glass. With just the right amount of diced apple and fresh mint, you’ll feel like you’re sipping a fruit salad (laced with both gin and vodka). Served in a tall glass, this refreshing drop from Mekong Baby will transport you to a tropical place even on a dreary winter’s day.

Whisky Sour | Mea Culpa

Ponsonby

What’s better than a delicious whisky sour? A whisky sour that looks delicious too. Mea Culpa never fails to deliver great cocktails and this is no execption. Their sours are served in eclectic vintage glassware with the perfect amount of foam, edible flowers and a fragrant spray to finish it off.

Basil Grande | Miss Moonshine's

Ponsonby

Served in a tall martini glass from Herbie, the 1970s Bedford turned bar. Miss Moonshine's pink number is the perfect balance of sweet and fresh—plus you’ll feel super elegant sippin’ from the stemmed glass.

Earl Grey Martini | Fukuko

Britomart

Friday drinks deserve to be a little bit fancy. Whether you prefer it shaken, stirred, or on the rocks we’ve worked our way through Auckland and put together the prettiest cocktail list for your drinking pleasure. It was really tough work, but someone’s gotta do it.

If possible, Fukuko have trumped Bond in bringing martinis back into style. The potent yet delicious mix uses Juniper Berry shochu, the Japanese distilled spirit they’ve become known for. With just the right mix of sour and sweet they’re easy to drink and look at (you’ve been warned!).

Strawberry & Coconut Frappe | Bedford Soda House

Ponsonby

The Bedford Ballers have a reputation around town, and this pink lady well and truly lives up to it. With or without vodka, this fun-looking frappe is topped with a flower to leave you feeling a little bit fancy. But let’s not kid ourselves, we’ll have one with vodka.

White Sangria | Casita Miro

Waiheke

If you’re a lover of feijoa, you can’t look past the White Sangria at Casita Miro on Waiheke—and why would you want to when it’s just so damn pretty? Served in a tall tumbler, the skilful mixologists blend together feijoa, sauv, soda and delicious fresh fruits to produce this showstopper of a beverage.

The Fig Fizz | The Gardens

Takapuna

Who said rum is a drink for sailors? Well, pretty much everyone but we’re not letting that stop us. The Fig Fizz from The Gardens at The Commons is a fruity concoction that’s been expertly paired with rum for pure deliciousness. It’ll leave you feeling a little bit schmancy.
