Auckland’s Most Instagrammable Cafes

Don’t worry, we’ve all been there…pretending it’s all about the food but really the intention is to incite the jealousy of your followers by posting the ultimate gram of the picture-perfect meal. That jealousy is quickly capitalized into the greatest currency of all—hearts. To help you gain these special kudos we’ve taken the hard task of finding Auckland’s most Instagrammable cafes for you all. The criteria: aesthetics of food and surrounds. The rest is up to you.

Monday's

Kingsland

The allure is in the secluded brick covered in ivy housing some of the city's best (and tastiest) healthy fare. Monday's is charming and sweet in its entirety—no need for a filter here. The smoothies which come in full-to-the-brim kitsch glass jars are seriously ‘grammable in and of themselves but for the pretty pic you're after make sure you grab the waffles. How perfect are those mosaic tables and mismatched vintage tableware for a melancholic backdrop?!

Odettes Eatery

Auckland CBD

Speaking of backdrops, we can't get enough of those startling turquoise tiles adorning the feature walls of Odettes. Not only does the interior look straight from an interior magazine shoot but the meals are pretty damn photogenic too. The presentation is slightly organic and not too 'staged' and is just waiting for your artistic direction to pop it all into a beautifully composed square frame. While they certainly do beautiful things with eggs, that chocolate crepe with plum ice cream and pistachios takes the cake.

Cereal Killa

Mt Eden

At the more food porn-y end of the spectrum we have Auckland's answer to the freakshake Instagram phenomenon. Cereal Killa does a mighty fine job of cramming a month's worth of treats into a glass jar with milk. The result? We can almost feel out waistbands getting tighter with every glimpse. Share the love with your insta community by sharing the suga. Even your most health-conscious mates will agree that these bad boys are seriously impressive to look at, with half a litre of milk and ice cream topped with chocolate, popcorn, nuts and waffles. You gotta gram it to believe it.

Deco Eatery

Titirangi

This somewhat hidden gem is just screaming for a snap with its delicious Middle Eastern food in exotic surrounds. The view outside Deco Eatery may be Waitakere bush, but inside it’s full noise Turkish, with food to match. Your followers will be fooled into thinking you've nipped off for a cheeky sojourn to Istanbul rather than simply nestled into a comfy cushioned seat in Wild West Auckland. Order a traditional selection to give an air of authenticity to the gram you're about to capture—our picks are the mezze platter, fattoush salad and some sinfully sticky baklava.  Although the wine list is tempting, go for a tea or coffee—it makes for the perfect prop served in theme worthy vessels.

L'oeuf

Mt Albert

This one should come as absolutely no surprise. We've said it once and we'll say it again; L'ouef's 'The Nest' is perhaps Auckland's most ‘grammable meal with its perfect composition, interesting components and contrasting textures. This is the masterpiece of Auckland brunches—it ain't insta-famous for nothing! For other orders worthy of a gram try their 'Cambodian' black sticky rice topped with edible flowers or the 'Dutchess', a smoked fish remoulade with a poachie perched on top. That artful presentation is just asking to be captured for all to see (as if they haven't already).
