As a matter of fact, there's actually an overwhelming amount of bars in this city so we thought we'd make things a little bit easier for you by boiling it down to the best within the hustle and bustle.

The Glass Goose

Get a view from the top at Auckland’s rooftop bar, The Glass Goose. Not only do they offer an ambience of up-scale and luxury, The Glass Goose has also built a reputation for cooking up some mighty fine food to go with your drink of choice. Champagne, wine, beer, chocolate Negroni cocktails, they have it all! Don’t forget to order up some of their infamous nibbles like the mussel fritters or oysters that are freshly shucked to order. Shortland Street

Arguably one of the most beautiful eateries in Auckland is Pilkingtons and it's is the perfect spot for a drink after work or date night. High Street

Home to one of the best hotels in Auckland Hotel DeBrett is Cornerbar at the beginning of High Street. Situated bang smack in the middle of the CBD, it has become the go-to destination for after work drinks and the consistently high quality from this bar has everyone going back! Cornerbar is a humble and cosy bar where people let loose and simply enjoy a drink so there is absolutely no need to feel intimidated, join in on the fun!


Chancery Square

Switch it up a bit and enjoy a night out, Korean style! Pocha in Chancery Square offer a Korean nightlife experience from the food to the drinks list. Different to the wine list we’re all used to, Pocha offer a variety of different soju flavours from just their original to grape, peach and grapefruit. Don’t let the fruity sweetness fool you as this stuff is strong so it would be wise to take things slow. Order a big plate of their Korean fried chicken and you’re in for a night to remember.

Mezze Bar

Tucked away in Durham Street is Mezze Bar, a cozy but spacious candle-lit bar offering some of the tastiest Mediterranean inspired tapas. You can’t go wrong with their polenta fries and a glass of pinot noir but Mezze Bar are also renowned for their sweet treats. The tiramisu paired with a good old glass of dessert wine is a favourite for the regulars of Mezze Bar and is a must for all the sweet tooths out there.

Fort Street Union

When you’ve had enough of the fanciness, head on over to Fort Street Union for a chilled out session of beer and pizzas. This casual hang out spot is the ideal bar to down a cold pilsner after a damn long day. The food at this joint is also anything but ordinary. The tandoori chicken pizza is an absolute must and walking out of Fort Street Union without consuming a slice of these bad boys would be a crime. Do yourselves a favour and get the 43cm option, you know what they say, go big or go home!

Cassette Nine

You can’t call yourself an Aucklander if you haven’t spent a night out at Cassette Nine. This bar often hosts live music gigs so it’s the place to be when you’re wanting a change from the repetitive top 40 charts that always plays in the background. Have you really been to Cassette Nine if you haven’t had their teapot cocktails? In a modest little teapot is a concoction of crazy combinations of spirits and juices and can only be found here. Round up some mates, grab a table and raise your pinky’s for a big night ahead.

The Jefferson

The bartenders at The Jefferson know everything there is to know about the alcoholic beverage and will find a way to make your glass of whiskey in to an experience you will not forget. With an insane whiskey collection and refined wine list, The Jefferson is a bar that the connoisseurs of the adult drink go to. Just as famous for their alcohol are their jalapeno poppers, packed with spicy flavour and mandatory!

The Occidental Belgian Beer Café

The Occidental Belgian Beer Café is the go-to destination for classic pub and grub experience. Don’t be scared to get hands-on as it’s perfectly acceptable to get sloppy at this joint. Their mussels in a pot are infused with creamy bacon sauce and we can vouch for the fact that these are damn tasty. The Occidental also serve Belle Vue Kriek and if you haven’t given this bevvy a go, now is your chance. It’s a sweet cherry beer and is the definition of fresh n’ fruity.



You can’t get more Auckland than the iconic Sky Tower. Take yourself up to the third floor and grab a cocktail at Twentyone! The interior falls nothing short of luxury, each and every corner of the bar is premium quality. Twentyone has even been noted for having one of the most beautiful bathrooms in Auckland, some even say that it’s nicer than their own living rooms! Twentyone also cook up a feast all night long as any time is cheeseburger time! Chow that baby down while you look through their five-page drinks menu to find your burger the perfect match.

Sapphire Nightclub

Anthology Lounge


Situated at the fringe of the CBD along K’Road is this hidden, underground wine bar and music lounge. The Anthology Lounge has a timeless fit out with high ceilings, glistening floors, lit up bar and grand piano. It’s intimate yet spacious and is becoming the favourite spot for classical musicians to showcase their talent. The upscale but relaxed setting makes this lounge the underground jazz bar that this city needed!
