From paintballing and extreme tracks to cycling and working on your calisthenics skills, you're sure to find something to whet your appetite here. November

Wellington

Walk Mt Kaukau

What could be better than lacing up your kicks and exploring Welly's back yard? Prepare for a workout as you scale the mountain on a three-hour return trip that's sure to get the adrenalin pumping. Bring supplies to last you for the day because you never know what could happen when you're up there. This free event is being hosted by the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council, so you know you'll be in safe hands. Race you to the top!

Take On The Mighty Chopper Challenge

If the thought of scaling nine-foot walls, rope swinging over mud pits and wading through creeks gets your blood up, head to Matakana for the chopper challenge. Grab your crew and use teamwork, cunning and brawn to overcome 30 obstacles over a three kilometre track, all while raising money for the lifesaving rescue helicopter. If three kilometres sounds like child's play, you can opt to do the course twice. Change of clothes essential!

Go For A Colourful Run

Surely the most colourful place to be in the city will be at the Colour Zone Run at Donnell Sports Park. Grab your crew and head for a run wearing white and see how long you can keep your threads pristine, we dare you. Unleash those endorphins on a five kilometre run/walk/crawl with runners who are released in 100-strong waves so everyone has room. Definitely one for the diary.

Test Your Mettle With The 4Seasons River Run

Explore the mighty Waikato river and pound the paths on this invigorating course. Choose to run with five or 10 kilometres with opportunity to win some pretty decent spot prizes from the likes of Harvey Norman and Pioneer. A course that doesn't take itself too seriously, it'll be up to you to push yourself to achieve your own personal best.

Paintball Club Day

Nothing says easy Sunday morning like running around shooting people with globs of paint. Head down to Mangakopikopiko Road for your burst of adrenalin where paintball enthusiasts come together for an almighty get together.

Get Peddling At The Velodrome

If you're a bit of a whizz on your bike then this event will be right up your alley. Running most Sundays in December (apart from that one weekend we'll all be doing other things), here you'll be able to compete against other racers who take their biking very seriously so you'll get a great workout into the bargain.

Bivouac Outdoor Wild Auckland Trail Run

This run out in glorious Wellford has a range of options to suit all abilities. From the 7km-10km run you can go right up to ultra marathon 50km if you're really ready to get stuck in. Discover a part of Auckland you're not likely to have seen before and get fit at the same time. Winning!

Hagley Park Push

Grab your crew and meet with your wheels of choice outside Canterbury Museum every Wednesday evening to skate around with like-minded souls. Finish up with a burger and a brew or whatever takes your fancy at the Riverside Markets. Sounds like the perfect Wedneday evening to us.

Friday Street Workouts

Head down to Hamilton Lake's brand new outdoor gym to get strong like ox. Join like-minded calisthenics enthusiasts and learn how to do the one-arm chin-up, front lever and handstand push-up all by just using your own bodyweight. If you've never even done so much as a push up, don't let that hold you back, as these get togethers are designed for all abilities. Get in.

Get Your Skates On

What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than to pull your skates on and go for a ride. Grew out of your skates aeons ago but keen to know whether you've still got it? Skatescool's got you covered as they provide the skates and the protective gear, all for just $13 a session. If you're feeling really rusty, contact them direct for information on their skate lessons.

Go For An Epic Swim

Sign up for the New Zealand Ocean Swim Interislander capital classic and go for an epic swim. Take on a short and snappy 200m sprint, or maybe go for the 500m or 1k swim or perhasp challenge yourself with a 3.3km swim around the iconic fountain and lighthouse and back again. Always a big event in Welly, be sure to get involved if swimming's your bag.

Have A Wheely Good Time in Clevedon

The Tour de Ranges is a celebration of the sport of cycling. Ride 110km, 65km, 30km road courses on the most remarkable roads in Auckland with tree-lined country roads and rolling hills of the Hunua Ranges and taking in the breathtaking sea views of the Hauraki Gulf.

Thundercat Racing

Thundercat Racing is a high adrenaline motorsport with explosive wave jumping and tight competitive racing in a tunnel hulled inflatable boat. Get your heart pumping as you watch the action from the safety of the beach. Boats race in only 30cm of water, making spectating from the beach up close and exciting, with boats jumping over waves to heights of up to 12 feet as they head back out around the course.
