Oh, how we love you, New Zealand. From your towering mountains and sandy beaches to your rolling hills and bubbling rivers, we’re pretty damn lucky to call this majestical country home.
If you love New Zealand as much as us (you do), please join us in a big round of applause. Why? New Zealand just took out the number three position for the most beautiful country in the world. Ka pai, New Zealand!
In a recent survey by Rough Guides, they called on travellers to vote for the world’s most breathtaking country. The results are in and… drum roll, please… Aotearoa has been awarded a well-deserved bronze medal.
The website gave praise to our “rolling green hills, majestic mountains, breathtaking fjords and amazing diversity of landscapes from one island to the next.” Yep, we couldn’t have put it any better ourselves.
New Zealand even beat countries such as Switzerland, Italy and Iceland. And, better yet, our Aussie neighbours didn’t get a mention in the top 20. New Zealand 1, Australia 0.
As for the top two spots? Canada’s “raw beauty” awarded the country second place, while Scotland walked away with a gold medal. Well done, guys (…but we’re totally taking out first place next time around).
On ya, New Zealand! We always knew you were amazing.
