Lego bricks, Lego

If you’ve been looking for an excuse to expand your LEGO set collection, this news is about to hit you like a ton of bricks: New Zealand's first LEGO® Certified Store in Newmarket's swanky new Westfield is opening this week.

Set to open on Halloween, Thursday 31 October, as a custom-built, interactive retail space with 3D brick models and mosaics inspired by Kiwi icons, the first 100 people through the doors will get a free gift, and those splashing over $100 will walk away with a limited edition LEGO® Store set (while stocks last).

Expect to see a massive Auckland Skyline Mosaic involving 318,208 bricks and taking over 580 hours to build, a Bungee Mosaic involving 39,733 bricks and taking 120 hours to build and a Bungee 3D Model—a LEGO World First—taking 327 hours to build and involving 40,177 bricks.

In addition to LEGO as far as the eye can see, there'll be stations where you can create your own minifigures as well as a pick a brick wall where you can pick and mix any pieces you like.

So, basically, we’re getting a huge shiny LEGO dreamland—to say we’re excited would be a gross understatement. No more brick-pile building trips to the annual Lego show for us.
