When news broke Augustus Bistro was shutting its doors, Auckland suffered from citywide heartbreak. So when we heard Waiheke's Mudbrick Vineyard & Restaurant—a.k.a our heroes—had taken over the space, we shared a collective sigh of relief.
Open now, Augustus has been refreshed and rejuvenated into a casual bistro that utilises the stunning space like never before. With a sprinkle of Mudbrick’s signature welcoming atmosphere, it is the perfect spot for your summer sessions. Owners Robyn and Nick Jones could not be more excited about the new opening.
“It’s such a brilliant space,” says Robyn. “We’ve worked with our executive chef Logan Coath to create a menu which draws inspiration from all across Europe.”
There's something for every occassion, from bar snacks to a full dinner menu.
We recommend starting things off with the refreshing carrot, sunflower tahini, nasturtium and pomegranate salad—it's a colourful and delicious dish that won't disappoint.
Trust us when we say you can't go past the reserve beef sirloin. Melting in your mouth with every bite, and served with a side of moreish hand-cut wagyu and a selection of sauces, it's an absolute must.
If you’re just in for a quiet one, then the bar snacks won't disappoint. The Pig Mac is Chef Coath’s take on the Maccas classic and is the perfect drinking companion.
End it all off on a sweet note with the dark chocolate fondant. With cookie crumbs and roasted white chocolate ice cream, stretchy pants are advised. And, better yet, it's gluten free.
For those on the go, the entrance, which once housed a florist, has been transformed into an espresso bar, ensuring you get your caffeine hit even if you're in a rush.
Back and better than ever, be sure to check out Augustus Bistro's epic comeback.
