They have been winning the hearts of Aucklanders since 2015 and now food truck Captain Crêpes has finally opened a permanent store.
Tucked away in Victoria Park Market, the interior of Captain Crêpes keeps things simple with a sleek brick and wooden fit out. The captain behind the concept is chef Ronan Guilloux. After working in Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris, Roman has put his training and passions to good use in his latest project.
“I’m from Brittany, France the home of crêpes,” he says. “They were a big part of my childhood and we still use the same traditional recipe today.”
Catering to your sweet and savoury needs, they serve a range of both crêpe and gallets hot off the griddle.
Our top pick is the Hispaniola. Think a fresh crisp crêpe shell packed with oozing Nutella, paired with banana, almonds and coconut topped with whipped cream.
Or, opt for the Going Merry. A classic done right, it’s doused in lemon juice and sprinkled in brown sugar—proving that sometimes, the best things are simple.
For those who don’t have a sweet tooth, the range of galettes is just as enticing. Loaded with tomatoes, mushrooms, egg, provolone cheese, mixed herbs and house-made a vinaigrette the Demeter is perfect for lunch on the go. Better yet, their entire galette offering is made with buckwheat and entirely gluten-free.
What are you waiting for? Live your best Parisian life and pay Captain Crêpes a visit.
