Point Chev’s newest opening is the sweetest we’ve come across as of late. The shop is sweet, the owner is sweet and her creations are… well, sweet. For those that have followed Michelle Bevan from market to market, where she would sell her lovingly made baby cakes, you’ll be very pleased to know she now has her very own brick and mortar set up.
Michelle is up, before the crack of dawn, creating handmade brioche, mini loafs and her divinely moist baby cakes. The flavours are modern—think lime and coconut, orange, rhubarb and poppy seed, or my personal favourite—sticky date, ginger and salted caramel. Shortly she’ll be introducing a range of cake jars. Yes! Cake in a jar layered with all sorts of goodies. One fine example is apple crumble and cinnamon cake stratified with vanilla bean custard, rich caramel sauce and almond crumble. Also, soon to be released is a modern version of everyone’s favourite theme park treat, candy floss—spun in store and dotted with freeze dried fruits.
This sweet-hub is the ultimate one-stop-shop for all things good. There are beautiful floral bouquets sitting pretty outside for your purchase. And Flight coffee to get that caffeine fix. I would suggest, if you’re in the dog box (hypothetically) Mint Cakery should be your first stop en route to say sorry. Cakes, flowers and coffee—what more could you want? But even if you’re not sorry, I suggest paying this new opening a visit. Sorry, not sorry I’ve told you about it.
