Bar hopping is fun and stuff but you know what sucks? Walking between bars.
But there’s no need to complain about blisters any more. Nope! Introducing the latest and greatest way to get around town: the beercycle!
Allow us to explain: the beercycle is a bike that sits you and 15 of your beer-lovin’ buddies and then, using pedal power, you cycle between pubs. You’ll visit between three to six Auckland bars over a two-hour period.
While there’s no booze on board (damn you, regulations), there are plenty of bevvies to be had at the bars along the way. And yes, there are exclusive drink deals.
It wouldn’t be a party without music, so you’ll be pleased to hear the beercycle is kitted out with a sound system. Party In The USA all night looong.
You can book one (or two) beercycles for your next event (we know what we’ll be doing for our Christmas do!) and the friendly folk will customise a tour for ya. Side note: Valerie Adams totally did a sober-version for her hens’ party!
Or, if you don’t have a full group, you can book a seat/s on a public tour. The pub crawl (or should we say pub pedal?) starts at the Viaduct and works its way to Britomart before cruising past Fort Street.
One thing’s for certain: Auckland’s newest pub crawl is off the chain!
When: Wednesday to Sunday or by private booking
Where: Meet beside O’Hagans Irish Bar
