We recently went to you, dear readers, to ask “who makes the best coffee in Auckland?” and here are the winners.

Aucklanders and coffee. It’s a thing. No morning would be complete without that warm goodness to prise open bleary eyes and give that little boost to the day. Sure, we’ve done our round-up of who makes the best coffee but we recently went to you, dear readers, to ask “who makes the best coffee in Auckland?”

The votes are now in and so—drumroll please—here are the winners.

#1 Weta Coffee | One Tree Hill

Proving that coffee is community, rising star Weta Coffee received the most votes. Only two years old, this gem sources 100 per cent premium Arabica beans from sustainable and ethical farms around the world. With super friendly staff and coffee that is roasted on site (the smell!), this rustic venue is perfect for your daily fix. And for the weta? They give an ongoing contribution from every cup sold towards the Giant Weta at Auckland Zoo. Noice.

#2 too Good Espresso | Ponsonby

Nestled on Brown St, too Good Espresso has quickly grown a loyal following, and takes out the number two spot in our readers’ choice awards. This light and bright space is owned by Rata Miller, a barista who knows his shit—his father started roasting the beans more than 30 years ago. If you haven’t been yet, it’s time to pay a visit.

#3 Coffee Lab | Wairau Valley

Lattes, long blacks, drip coffee—you name it, and this North Shore spot has got it. With great service, the McGregor family have travelled the world and bring their expertise back to Auckland for your coffee pleasure. The Coffee Lab believes in doing good, they also actively help orphans, abandoned kids and the poor around the world.

#4 Coffee General | Birkenhead

Another Shore hotspot, Coffee General takes out the number four venue for the best coffee in Auckland! Whether you like your coffee light, medium or dark, sweet or strong, they’ll deliver. Bringing together some of the finest coffee New Zealand can offer, this funky little venue is a must-visit.

#5 Goodness Gracious | Eden Terrace

Sure, Goodness Gracious is already on our radar because of its bagels, but don’t stop there—the coffee is where it’s at. Get your morning fix at this small but friendly spot on New North Road.

#6 Deco Eatery | Titirangi

Head out west and visit Deco Eatery for some great coffee. Situated in the refurbished Lopdell House, enjoy something from their delicious Mediterranean menu while you sip away on your coffee. The super friendly staff make it the total package.

#7 Camper Coffee | Newmarket

Winning the number seven spot for the best coffee in Auckland is Camper Coffee. Situated in Kent Street, this hole in the wall venue serves up your daily dose of goodness with a smile.

#8 Eightthirty | CBD

This pink and white café on High Street is a firm fave for those who work in the city. Delivering some of the best coffee in town, these baristas know what they’re doing. With a great vibe and décor, Eightthirty also has a cabinet full of tasty food so you can hit the hunger spot while enjoying your liquid gold.

#9 Black and Gold | Albany

Black and Gold’s spacious venue on the Shore is the perfect place for some chillax time before work. Well-known for both their coffee and friendly staff, make sure Black and Gold is on your must-visit list.

#10 ARK | Takapuna

People on the Shore just love their coffee, with ARK Coffee Company taking out the tenth and last—but certainly not least—venue to get some of the best coffee in Auckland. Founded by two sisters in 2012, they serve carefully handcrafted coffees as well as offering brewing classes and tasting sessions.
