The 20 Best Things About Laneway 2017

You sure know how to party, Auckland! After a fun-filled day of good music and equally good vibes, Laneway is done and dusted for another year. And, in our humble opinion, it was the best Laneway to date (big call, we know!). Because we’re still amping from the day it was, we’ve rounded up all the best moments of this year’s festival. Here are the 20 best things about Laneway 2017.

  1. The weather was perfect—clear, bluebird skies and scorching sun! Summer, you came just in time.
  2. Albert Park is officially our new favourite venue of all time! Lush trees provided plenty of shade, pretty flowers were aplenty and there were loads of areas to escape the crowds.
  3. Partying on the streets was pretty cool.
  4. The pretty Somersby Cider & Beer Garden was deee-lightful! It was the perfect pozzy to chill out between bands and try your hand at table tennis.
  5. The Vivian Wine Bar was great because they actually knew their wines (Kenya, you know who are!). We were blown away by their service and selection of limited edition brands—the Black Cottage Rosé and the Two Rivers Riesling were our faves.
  6. No lines (or fast-moving lines). Nobody wants to stand around for hours trying to get in, ordering a drink or waiting to go to the loo! The whole event was well organised and we appreciated this.
  7. Glass Animals blew our mind. It was just as good (if not better) than their set at Coachella. We love you guys.
  8. Tame Impala. Because confetti guns.
  9. The Veils will always have a spot in our hearts. Is that song about me?
  10. Bob Moses bringing the party to the Rotunda Stage. Everyone was bringing their best dance moves!
  11. Tourist absolutely rocking the fountain stage—especially when they got everyone grooving to ‘Run’.
  12. Flight Facilities first-ever New Zealand performance. How good was their pilot-esque get-up?!
  13. Brooklyn Dogs’ mammoth hot dogs that we loaded with all things good—pickles, sauerkraut, jalapenos and lashings of sauce. Heck yes!
  14. We were stoked to see Moustache Milk & Cookies’ iconic yellow bus parked up. Fresh out of the oven, their cookies were delightfully gooey with melted choccy chunks!
  15. The Rolling Pin were also dishing out the goods. Their beef cheek dumplings were out of this world—seriously, we can’t stop thinking about them!
  16. The people. It was such a great crowd—there were no dramas whatsoever. The punters were carefree and truly there for the music—the best kind of people! Kudos to you, Auckland!
  17. On that note, the crowd was also dressed to impressed. We loved your dedication to all things glitter.
  18. Hydrating at the water refill station. Is this not the best idea ever? You saved us.
  19. Security. These guys were the best. So friendly, tolerant and reasonable. And, let’s be honest, we’re no easy bunch of people to wrangle! Good job, guys.
  20. Everyone’s dedication to party right to the very end. Shout out to What So Not for the epic finale!
