The Best Restaurants In Auckland

It’s no secret that Auckland restaurants have got it going on. In fact, we think they’re darn outstanding! And with such fine talent, it would be rude not to give them the credit they deserve. That’s where the Lewisham Foundation Awards come in. The hospitality industry awards celebrate all things good in Auckland’s dining scene.

One category that we’re particularly excited about is the award for the outstanding establishment. To be up for this award, the establishment must have the X factor. It must have been open for more than two years and bring fans back time and time again.

The nominees have been announced and we’re chuffed to see some of our faves in the running. Here’s why we love these four restaurants.

Depot Eatery

Auckland City

Depot Eatery is—hands down—one of the best restaurants in Auckland. So much so, that it’s often hard to nab a seat at this Federal Street eatery. Their freshly shucked oysters and extensive wine menu are the star of the show here. We also can’t go past their Hapuka sliders with a side of potato skins. For more deets, check out their directory listing here.

Auckland Viaduct

You’ll find plenty of soul at Soul Bar & Bistro. Located in the heart of the Viaduct, Soul boasts delightful views of the Auckland Waterfront. Their outdoor patio is the perfect pozzy to wine and dine the day away as your watch the comings and goings of the harbour. Views aside, the famous Auckland restaurant is renown for its exceptional seafood menu. Click here for more info.

Established in 1986, it’s fair to say Prego Italian restaurant has stood the test of time. The Ponsonby restaurant has a reputation for the best pizza in town as well as a divine dolce di datteri (a.k.a. sticky date pudding) with poached pears and ginger ice cream—yass please! This well-known restaurant is guaranteed to bring you nothing but good times and delicious eats. Look up Prego in our directory.

The Blue Breeze Inn

Last but in no ways least is The Blue Breeze Inn. Chinese food is given a Pacific twist at this Ponsonby Central restaurant. No visit is complete without a pork belly steamed bun (or two) and a serve of dumplings. Don’t leave without dessert because their chocolate fondant choc pot is off. the. chain. Find out more here.
