Bad breakup? Champagne. New job? Champagne. Tuesday? Champagne.
Whether you’re commiserating or celebrating, a glass of bubbly is always the answer.
And, to help you unite those special moments in life with the world’s most romantic tipple, we’ve rounded up the best places in Auckland to drink bubbly.
Leading the pack is champagne and oyster bar Rockefeller. The divine wine list—particularly the champers—is best enjoyed with their freshly shucked oysters. Our personal fave is their Japanese-esque wasabi tempura oyster.
Sometimes after a hard week you just need to unwind with a bit of champers in a Parisian restaurant. And while we don’t all have a private jet waiting to take us to France (life is unfair), the charming Paris Butter will provide a local substitute.
Freshly shucked oysters, artisan cheese and a whole lot of champagne—what’s not to love at Sofitel’s Sabrage Bar? The champagne list is as long as a Russian novel and reads like a who’s who of Bruts and Blanc de Blancs. The best part? The drinks are served sabrage-style with a champagne sword.
No trip to the iconic SPQR is complete without a glass of fancy booze aka champagne. Nab a seat at one of the tables lining Ponsonby Road and work your way through the champagne menu. Just be sure not to spill your drink on the white tablecloths!
With the CBD as your backdrop and the stunning Waitemata Harbour as your view, there is so much to raise a glass to at Ostro. And just like they’ve read your mind, they have paired your bubbly with its best friend—oysters!
Located in the Hilton, Bellini Bar loves the effervescent drink so much they have an entire menu dedicated to it! We counted 20 bubbling options on the menu. Sip on some Mumm and/or Moët as you take in views of the harbour.
Soul Bar & Bistro
Just around the corner you’ll stumble upon the newly renovated Soul Bar & Bistro. No stranger to champagne—and divine eats—you can snack and sip to your heart’s content at this much-loved waterfront venue.
Stafford Rd Wine Bar
Grab a glass of the good stuff at Stafford Rd Wine Bar. Their wine list isn’t long but it only stars the good stuff so you know you’re in for something delightful. Order a
glass bottle and settle in at this cosy restaurant.
Adjacent to Mecca Viaduct, you’ll discover Bubble Lounge Bar. In case their name (and this article) didn’t give it away, they’re all about the bubbles! They have all your faves (Veuve Clicquot, Dom Perignon and Moët), as well as a selection of champagne cocktails—now it’s a party!
Gusto at the Grand
Gusto isn’t just good for delish Italian fare—they also have a sophisticated selection of champers. Go all out and opt for the Krug brut number—it has the cool price tag of $690. Go hard or go home, we say!
