The Cocktail Pop-Up You Can’t Miss

Pop-ups are all the rage in Auckland. We’ve got a dumpling pop-up, we’ve got a grilled cheese pop-up and now we’ve got cocktail pop-up. Yup, you read right. A cocktail pop-up bar is coming to Auckland in August.

For three nights, New Zealand’s most talented bartenders will be shaking and/or stirring up a storm at World Class House. You’ll find Lorietta Bahr of Bedford Soda & Liquor, James Millar of The Gin Room, Jonny Cresswell of Revelry, Kneale Brown of Wellington’s Matterhorn and Ray Leota of Wellington’s Roxy doing what they do best—epic cocktails.

The five mixologists are the crème de la crème when it comes to bartending. They’ve been named the top bartenders in the New Zealand final of Diageo World Class (aka one of the world’s most prestigious bartending comps).

Located in the iconic Ponsonby Post Office Building, the World Class House pop-up allows them to show off their skills while you (and us) drink their creations. The aim of the game is for their concoction to come out on top as most popular on the night.

The Kiwi winner will win the opportunity to create their own Auckland-based bar, as well as compete in the World Class Global Finals in Miami in September. The winner of this international Olympic-esque cocktail event will be titled ‘World Class Bartender of the Year 2016’—bad ass title, right?

The pop-up will also have interactive cocktail and food stations, including a ‘juice your own’ bloody Mary station as well as a spritzer master class and an all-American barbecue—with a bourbon cocktail to match, of course.

For just $40, your ticket includes entry to the venue and four tokens—two of which are redeemable for drinks and two for food matches. If you plan on having a big one, you can buy additional draaanks and food.

Remember, it’s for three nights only so don’t. miss. out.
