You may have seen the buzz about town for Netflix’s book-to-film adaptation of The Devil All The Time, a grim small-town thriller bloated with more than a few trending Hollywood names. At the helm is Robert Pattinson, who’s joined by the likes of Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgård, Jason Clarke along with Aussies Mia Wasikowska and Eliza Scanlen.
The star-studded bill is convincing enough, though anyone needing more coaxing to hit play will relish in the fact it’s directed by Antonio Campos, who’s best known for his work on the infectiously stressful Netflix series, The Sinner.
In The Devil All The Time, Campos employs a similar anxious tension throughout the characters and plot, which follows Arvin Russell (Tom Holland) as he uncovers the frightening mysteries of the Knockemstif community and the town’s residents—including a very unholy pastor played by Pattinson.
Like Campos’ previous work, there are plenty of gory bite-your-knuckle-and-look-away moments which are contrasted by incredible performances from the entire cast, particularly those of Australians Wasikowska and Scanlen, as well as Pattinson.
Find a comfortable spot on the edge of that couch, The Devil All The Time is streaming on Netflix now.
Once you’re done, check out Korean zombie-horror Alive, also available on Netflix.
